As it turns out it was a bad part in the tender.A pin that was to short that controled the direction and speed. That why every thing else worked ecept moving. So MTH TRAINS is still a good company. Some here have pointed out that these things happen to everybody. They are right I just freakedout over the locomotive. So I give MTH a thumb up.

Mine is back at MTH for the wireless tether not staying plugged into the tender, regardless of how much effort I put into plugging it in, trust me, there is no way that i didn't just not plug it in fimly enough, I used the both thumbs on top of the tender, pushing in with the index fingers method described by MTH, I pressed hard enough, that I was getting concered about breaking something. I started out using what I felt was a "Reasonable" amount of force, then a little more each time, until I was convinced that there was no amount of effort that was going to keep that tether in place.
Then I went to try changing to the longer tether to try to decide if it was the tether or the tender socket that was bad, and found that a screw had fallen out on the fireman's side, and some of the valve gear was dangling out of place.
I unboxed the engine new to find the tender truck safety chains (nice detail feature) were hanging loose on both sides of the front end of the front tender truck, so MTH has three things to fix on mine.
The Santa Fe Imperial Northern is a Beautiful locomotive, I had no intention of buying one when I went to my LTS to do some Ironhorse trading, but it caught my eye in the case, and I kept going back to look at it again, finally decided to add some more to the trade stock to cover it too, and I am normally pretty good about sticking to modeling the Union Pacific and Southern Pacific, mainly scale size to boot. I sure wish that it ran as Beautiful as it looks, it is a real eye catcher, but I don't think that the PS3 sounds are as good as my older PS2 or an unfair comparison, they really don't measure up to Lionel's Legacy sounds. If MTH can get it all fixed properly though, I will still be Happy with it.

Glad to hear it all worked out!!!
I spent the last two days working on a Legacy. It's going back to "L" and I know mine won't be n/c...
Look forward to hearing a report when you get yours back!!

One thing I like about the locomotive is the whistle. It a very nice sounding whistle.I think all mth locomotives it will pull a long freight train.
