Finished my "pilot model" of the bay window version of the WP composite cars built in the '40s from Pullman boxcars acquired by the railroad early in the century. This one is for subsidiary Sacramento Northern in the final green scheme. Hopefully it will generate some interest at O Scale West next month. It is made from cast resin sides and ends, the rest styrene. I was thinking about casting the steps rather than scratching them, but I am afraid they would have to be too thick if I did that.

The voided bolt heads bothered me as well, so I tried dusting the molds with baby powder first, to cut down on surface tension. I used these cull castings for the first car, since I don't plan to sell it and the main exercise was to work out the dimensions etc. A better result can be seen in the photo below of my TS cupola car. Thanks for all the comments!
