The one item that I must have is the Santa Fe “Black Bonnet” on page 91.  Now I just hope that Lionel will the black aluminum passenger cars to go along with that set.  I waited too long to but the K-Line set that was out some time ago, so now is my chance to get one from Lionel and I am going to order it ASAP.  Does anyone else like that set?

Howard

The scale telephone poles are nice, but just not as nice as used to be available from Dave Baran. Glad I stocked up, although Andre Garcia is also making a similar pole.

The item that most caught my attention was the trucks for the trailer loads. They are nice models and 1/48 with railroad markings. But the $89.95 price tag blows me away.

An $89.95 toy truck:

So far, I'm interested in the following:

1) Motor City Express (finally 1:48th scale auto racks)  My top item!

2) UP Work Train

3) MKT SD40's and BN SD40's Nice Lashups!

4) Wabash F7 ABBA

5) Bunch of the new Freight Cars:

Wish I had more money!

Ok, then there's my 'LOTTO LIST':

- FRISCO SD40's really sweet looking

- UP GP35's (both numbers Legacy ya know ;-))

- SP GP35's

- Burlington F3 ABBA

- California Zepher Pass Set

- UP 4-12-2 #9004

- Rotary Coal Dumper, naturally.

- Louisville & Nashville F7 ABBA (wow, that will be sharp!)

- NS SD80's

- GT SD80's

- Burlington SD80 (wow this looks hot)

- Pennsy SD80's (does it show that I like the big power?)

- DM&IR Mikado

- CP GP35's

- CN Piggy Back Set

- All the TOFC cars, heck even the ($90, give me a break) add on Trucks, who's counting?

- SF GP9's

- LV RS11's

- NP GP9's

- MKT NW2 (just one)

- GN GP9's

...  and that is about it.

My purchases will be limited to a couple sets of Telephone 6-37851 and Lighted Telephones 6-37995 to augment the assorted set have and on order.

Was going for the Pennsy and REA Tractor/Trailer sets until seeing the $89.99 MSRP each.  I purchase the pair of the first two First Gear tractor/trailer sets when first out for far less then one of these will sale price out at.

Bad news (for me).  I just added up everthing I would like at the discounted price at T-S and it's $5500+!!!!  The good news is it will ship between May & November.   So if I were to go ahead (highly doubtful) at least the pain will be spread out.  However, I am certainly going for the Motor City Express with add-ons and the add-on Santa Fe Reefer 3 pack.  We'll see about the rest. Maybe a couple of Alaska engines.

Since my largest turn is 048 I am limited in what I can purchase.

Hi Greg,

You are not alone! My 4 year old is the same, TM videos, and YouTube LOL.

He loves Santa Fe so for Christmas it was the Lionel AC6000 Santa Fe.

Case in point we went to a trainshow when we visiting the US. I was after a set of Santa Fe or Lionel Lines passengers cars for our Santa Fe F3 set. But no we walked out with a

Lionel SP GS-2 Daylight.

He knows what he likes

I might go for the Acela.

And for sure the black module for Legacy

Regards

Nick

Haven't read all the posts in this thread, but IMO the new signature catalog has nothing for me. I will however order from the lowly ready to run catalog. The RTR catalog has one set and a few cars I want. As for the signature catalog I can only shake my head and wonder how they can plan to produce so many big ticket items in these times. 0-4-0 basic switchers with Railsounds and a can motor for $449 says it all.

I'm a risk taker....I'm going for the Acela and add-on cars.  I have the original, and it will be so cool to have them pass each other each going 150 scale mph!

And, I'll get all the Halloween cars (Zombies are the "In" thing) and Peanuts cars.

I never met a Mint Car that I didn't like, so I'll be ordering the Richmond Reserve Mint Car.

Decisions, decisions, I was planning to purchase a scale Blue Comet well before the sneak peek came out. Well it looks like I'm going to have one soon. And how can I pass up on another Acela set or the UP anniversary pass. set that matches my original set.

The one big surprise to me is how appealing the Motor City Set is to me. I can't wait to have it, it's hard to imagine freight cars that will be almost 6" longer then most O scale passenger cars.

The one thing that is saving me is there are no big diesels or any of the new NW-2's  on my list. Thankfully the Piggyback set which really looks nice has none of the PS-4 flats that I collect. But why did they have to bring out some more Bethlehem Steel items.

Oh well so much for decisions, I didn't know retirement life would be so stressful.

Paul

I do want the Penn Central GG1 with the yellow stripe and the caboose to go with it.

I would rather have some passenger cars to go with it. The Kato N scale PC car set they did last year was really neat with 4 different paint schemes like a real PC train. I would love to have a set like this but I doubt Lionel would go for that. For the traditional size cars they always seem to go with the baggage, dome, coach, observation combination I would rather have a baggage and 3 coaches for a set like this.

Definite list:

6-34681 Union Pacific LEGACY GP-9

6-27673 NYC Scale Caboose

6-25713 NYC Passenger 20th Century Limited 4-Pack

6-25718 NYC Passenger 20th Century Limited 2-Pack

6-25721 NYC Passenger 20th Century Limited StationSounds Diner

Maybe List:

6-11335 Blue Comet

6-25655 Blue Comet

6-38524 NYC LEGACY GP-35

6-38527 Union Pacific LEGACY GP-35

6-29327 Bethlehem Steel Operating Hopper

6-37980 Coal Conveyor

The PRR sharks caught my eye. I never was able to win the TMCC CC line version on eBay. Maybe the early buy price is good and they will take some time to come in so I can save some money. I just got a Legacy PRR Heritage SD70 Ace Tuscan in a few days ago.........great engine worked fine out of the box. JohnB

Mine too But it is SO tempting! IMHO this is the best catalog Lionel has ever done.

IF I were buying O gauge products still I would be interested in:

The CN Set with the 2 additional GP9s

C&O GP9s

EL GP35s

NW2s

All the scale 1:48 freight with the exception of the Autoracks. Those piggybacks are very nice.

SF Northern

Proably a Mike or Pacific as well.

Glad I moved over to S :-p

Just waiting on my Y3a, SD70s, and U33cs.

I already bought the Legacy B&O EM-1!

Lots of tempting stuff in this catalog, especially for the steam lover.

This Catalog could hurt my wallet.

I also like these:

Cass two truck shay $899
Lima Berkshire Demo $1249
CSX SD40-2 unpowered or powered to go with my SD40-2 from the husky stack set $259 or $529
Zombie walking brakeman car $79

Chris, I've had very bad results with the "early era inspection cars" if this is the model you are talking about:  the small 1940s Ford sedan type with a leading truck with four tiny spoked metal bogie wheels out front.  I'll admit it is solidly built and feels incredible: that's a lot of wiehgt for such a tiny vehicle!  But other than Lionel's lighted Fastrack bumpers, the inspection car is the worst Lionel product I have seen.

Really?  I have the Lionelville RR police version and love it.  It doesn't like dirty track so much, but does fine for a tiny vehicle.  They're based off of a 1937 Buick inspection car that's in the B&O RR museum.  In fact, you just reminded me that I have it (it's been packed away since I ran it at Christmas time).  I think I'll run it tomorrow for awhile with my SD80 powered freight train
