Custom Run Canadian National 2-8-0 from Mr. Muffin who needs a minimum of 20 pre-orders, so please 🙏 get your orders in asap.
PS - I've been wanting this Consolidation (and waiting patiently) for over 30 years.
@shorling posted:Hobo car, I just had to have it. I have a hobo scene. Not sure if I'm just going to junk it at the scene or have them ride the rails.
I have the original hobo car with harmonica sound. I like very much. I’m sure this will add to your layout.
I ordered the Pennsylvania C-Liner. I have already been told by the rivet-counters that it is not prototypical. I don’t care. I think it’s nice and will look great pulling some Streamliner coaches.
nothing
my money isn't solid enough to know exactly what trains to buy and i hardly have comfortable space to work with what i already own
at this point i can only take whatever falls in my lap although my godfather doesn't want me buying used locomotives anymore unless i know 100 percent that they work

On this thread, we are 3. Let's hope we can get to 20.

Hi guys, I am going to be a team player on this one and so I just ordered the Canadian National 2-8-0 from Mr Muffin.😉
I’m going to get the Hobo box car probably the Erie, and I’m looking at getting the L&N 2-8-0 Steamer because I live in L&N country. I will have to see how my budget looks in the next few weeks. I think I have a few trains I could sell to help even out my budget. Great question, waiting on the real catalog. Happy Railroading Everyone
Maybe the Erie hobo box car and maybe the NY Central Consolidation. Not too much in there for folks like me with small layouts.

I know. I have a small layout. But, the C-Liner will work on O-31 curves and a B unit is coming. So I had to have it.
Looking at the Grand Canyon set.

I would buy it but those scale passenger cars are too long for my layout
Absolutely nothing...zip...nada.
My attention...even prior to the July 15 announcement...has shifted to the secondary market for past gems. Which are, IMHO, becoming even more gem-like every day.
Folks like Pat (Harmonyards) have convinced me that recycling older, well-built/detailed 'bones' is more appealing...financially, as well as technically/aesthetically...than pining for a catalog announcement that increases the heart rate...from desire () OR sticker shock ()!!!
Speaking of the heart...folks like Pat, Alex, Gunrunner, et al, are, IMHO, our hobby's renowned 'cardiologists'. I'm not sure that the lingering hoopla over TMCC vs. DCS will ever be resolved to everyone's satisfaction. But, should my favorite vision...Battery Power with DCC...ever gain enough traction to be in their surgical repertoire, I'll have the beautiful, affordable 'bones' for their surgical skills.
And, meanwhile, the conventional performance suffices for my enjoyment.
TEHO, though. Enjoy the catalog.

It will definitely be running on the outer loop with those passenger cars.

I have the MTH 60’ Pennsylvania cars and they are too long. I wish I never bought them.

Thanks for the reminder to relook the Lionel catalog. I ordered the CN 2-8-0 limited production from Mr. Muffin and now I have decided to add the Maine Central 2-8-0. So now I will have two 2-8-0 arriving around the same time!
I ordered the Maine Central 2-8-0 from Lionel's webstore, you get them first that way direct from Lionel. However, you do pay full retail from Lionel. But, it doesn't bother me since we do need to support our remaining train companies with new purchases.
I have two loops on my layout and I think both 2-8-0s will look great running side by side around North Adams MA. NOTE: Someone asked if I posted TRAIN pictures. I said I did but he could not remember seeing them... so

Thanks, I may consider one in NYC or LIRR livery. Good to know there is still some stuff for 031.
The 86 foot auto parts boxcars caught my attention.
Badge 109 - Regarding your query about C-Liner 'B' units, I don't see anything stated about them in the latest catalog. That said, this seems to be the practice of Lionel (and other manufacturers) in the recent past, so it's 'assumed' B units will eventually be forthcoming. However, you know the old saying about when you 'assume'.
Although I didn't see Ryan and Dave's video unveiling of the catalog, maybe they mentioned something about future 'B' units. If so, perhaps someone on the Forum who saw their catalog reveal will clarify this for you (and me).

B units will be coming out according to Ryan. He mentioned it at least twice. There will also be additional liveries and wheel counts.
There's a couple of steam engines I like but they have priced me out of their market.
Nothing from this catalog. Or possibly from future catalogs unless they decide to complete the Funeral Train with the UP 2066 Generator Car. It's not that I don't like what's in the catalogs, But my monies are currently going to my 70 Chevelle restoration project. Priorities.....
C liner B units will be in a later release when they do the 4 axle version. None of the currently offered C-liner schemes had B units. They were single A units equipped with passenger steam generators. The 5th axle on the rear truck was added to support the weight of generator.
I would not be surprised if we see super bass B units for roads that had them such as PRR in DGLE for a future run. Don’t quote me on that. It’s just a guess.
Dj's - Did not Canadian National run C-Liner 'AA' engine sets? I seem to recall seeing CN AA photos while looking through a railroad history book in our local library, although that was a few years ago and my memory's not as good as it used to be.

I’m not a CN expert, but I’m sure they did, NY central would sometimes run an AA set of C-liners. They would also be seen MU’d with a variety of other diesels. I’m a Long Island RR collector and the C-liners on the island were never mu’d. They were used in east end commuter service.
What 4-12-2 did people order

Nothing. I am doubling my money by folding it in half and putting it back in my pocket.
I am not a typical Lionel customer though I have nothing against the company or its products. I am just not Lionel's typical demographic and at this point.
2-8-0 in Maine Central livery and the Rock Island Hobo car.
I would LOVE the MEC 2-8-0 but I model two rail and do not want to go through the expense of converting it. With MTH out of the game I think my days of buying stuff from any of the "big manufacturers" are history. I may need my train money this year to heat my house, looks like inflation is what I am buying from the Lionel catalog.
Very fortunate nothing there for me. Have pretty much what I need. Man alive, the prices. Simple boxcars (throw ins back in the day) command some big dollars. Wait until next catalog. Only want GP7 or 9 in UP to build a 2 or 3 engine lash up.

Didn't they do a UP GP9 a few years ago ?
@dkdkrd posted:My attention...even prior to the July 15 announcement...has shifted to the secondary market for past gems.
Pretty well saturated here, too. As to past "gems," I'm in that place, also. I have a fair number on that list, more than enough to drain the wallet. Will make exceptions for the right thing, like a Soo Line Geep in their wine red scheme and a LC+2 J. STILL waiting for Lionel to do that one.

And before that, the No. 28567 UP Scale Legacy GP7.
Norfolk Southern SD45 and super bass NS dummy. Really looking forward to something NS set up to run long hood forward.
NYC FM C Liner
Wow, earlier I was going to get an L&N 2-8-0 consolidation but, it was canceled, so another forum sponsor is having the B&O 2-8-0 consolidation steamer made, I’ll get it, and the Erie hobo car and also a at the last minute the #13 USS Safety First SW1200 switcher… Rumor has it that early ordering is the least expensive way to buy these trains. So, get your orders in. Happy Railroading Everyone

9 years is more than a few. I think I an going to have Timco do my magnetraction to traction tires. TMCC is fine for now
