Hello I have been wondering what you would use to clean the shell of a locomotive. Finger prints, smudges etc? Thank you

I’ve separated the shell, and washed it in warm water, and brushed it with a soft brush, and mild soap. A good rinse, and then I thoroughly dry it with my wife’s hair dryer on low. It’s a rare case when I do, as I often brush loose dust off them every month or so, again, with a soft brush. The rest of the fleet sits in a bookcase or three, and doesn’t pick up much dust.
Good question and I hope responders will note what the shell is made of. For example, I have used armor all on post war metal steamers. Looks fine but how about other materials if you don't want take the shell off?
Hokie 71, you’re absolutely right, I was thinking plastic diesel and cars. For post war metal steamers, I’ve just brushed them off, or wipe with a silicone gun cloth.
