York is upon us and I am really surprised at the lack of meetings announced. What happened to the LCCA at Smokey bones? The DCS meeting? The Legacy Users group meeting? Thursdays at Fridays? Thank God Peter Condro is still doing the Breakfast meet at Round the Clock

I miss the OGR Grandstand Meetings, uncomfortable seats and all. Another missing announcement is regarding the expanded YouTube group meetings Friday and Saturday.
LCCA announced the Smokey Bones meeting on the LCCA News section of the forum.
Andy
The LCCA WILL BE AT THE SMOKEY BONES WEDNESDAY AT 5 pm. SEE YOU THERE.

As well you know Ben, Friday's is gone, so we can't meet there.
The Toy Train Paper & Memorabilia Group meeting is still kicking, and had our largest attendance in a long time last October.
See you Thursday night at 7!

Ben.....I don't think we've had a OGR Grandstand/Gold Hall Friday meeting since Fall 2019.....pre Covid.
Here's a pic from the last one.....
There is also an "unannounced" gathering, that I organize. It is "unannounced" by design. I have a reservation for 24 at the Olive Garden on Friday at 7PM. By Friday AM, I usually know who is staying (the Great Exodus from York is Friday afternoon) and I make it known. We usually end up with between 14-25.
Not very organized, I know, but it works.
Not gourmet food, I know, but they fulfill two important things:
1. They will take a reservation.
2. The goal of the attendees which is "being together at the same venue with passable food".

I don’t believe it has official OGR sponsorship anymore………however, I believe people will just congregate for dinner there between 5:30 and 7 PM…….I know that I’ll be going there……
Peter
I’ll be at York very early Friday am till Saturday. You can meet the OCSMR President at York? Lol!
If not, I have May 25th on my calendar.

OK Brian Ill be there but you have to wear your Yankee cap
will there be a youtubers panel discussion and meeting on Saturday morning at York?

Ben, I recall seeing you at Quaker Steak on Thursday, that's still going on. I don't think it's quite what it was a few years ago...
Maybe the DCS and Legacy are on hold until you can actually go to a store and buy one.
I know that Marty was having some trouble finding a venue for the Legacy meetings. Truthfully, I'd love to see A Legacy meeting in the fall, we should have some BASE3 topics to discuss.

Oh! Are they still in the league?!
I’ll have to dig it out and wear it for you!

I'll be there. Might even have the Mrs. with me.
Missing York this spring for 2 prior commitments. I will miss Thursday at Quaker Steak and Lube. I bought 2 steam engines on Stout auction to ease the pain. I will also miss the You Tube meetings. See everyone in the Fall.
I can only speak to the Legacy meeting. It has been difficult to get a venue without being in one of the “out buildings” now. Also while we never relied on Lionel being there we alway welcomed them and they always gracious with their time even at o dark thirty.
I’ll have to see what the demand is. Right now the orange hall meeting room is probably definitely out. I won’t do them in the early morning anymore either.
The virtual Legacy meeting with Lionel was a pretty big success. It maybe the way going forward especially since Lionel may not attend York again as of now.
@MartyE, that was very good I thought Marty. A virtual meeting going over a bunch of things some of us don't know, plus Q&A too boot did help. You figure if you do that again, may have some old or new questions especially with the Base 3 looming.
@bluelinec4 Ben, if you do get out to Quaker Steak on Thursday evening, be sure to drink(A Guinness) in my absence this week. Granted it isn't what it used to be as noted above, but some of the old crowd(old guard) usually make it there and some new faces. I always enjoy taking in a Guinness, a steak(or whatever else they have on the menu) and chatting about trains. Enjoy this York and bring a smile.
Since OGR doesn't attend York as a vendor any longer, the Thursdays at QuakerFridays and Grandstand meetings are likely long gone.

Grandstand meetings yes, but as indicated above, we all congregate on Thursday to Quaker Steak regardless. It's an unofficial meeting/get together if you will, but there's a fairly decent group if not large. It is just a question of knowing who folks are. Last October I ran into a guy in the parking lot, he was leaving, I was coming in. I'd never seen him before, but he did know about that being a place to meet up. I think it is possible he met up with his pals early and had little interest in the later crowd that usually comprises of the folks that stayed there late and closed the place in the past.
Guys I actually knew what happened to the meetings and when and where if any What I was surprised at was the fact nobody was talking about them I'll see you in York Leaving soon
@bluelinec4, have a great York Ben. Make sure you have a blast as I'm sure you typically do like the rest of us. Have a safe trip there and back. Enjoy. 👍

Few things are.
Demographics change. Economics change. Our long time friends pass, ad infinitum.
In fact, all things about this life change.
Thus, I'm learning to embrace what remains of the things I enjoy, the ones I love, and be thankful for them.
York:
Hope all of you Yorkians had a great time, saw old friends, made new ones, and bought too much train stuff.

Maybe so, but as a first-timer from the west coast ,it's still a spectacular experience that's unduplicated anywhere else. There were plenty of people, but not overwhelming numbers and plenty of purchasing was going on with numerous large boxes and full bags being taken back to vehicles , so I'd say it's still successful.

It was a pleasure to meet you in person, Peter…..glad you had a good time.
