My entry will be this new acquisition of my brother. There are two things with this photo. Can you guess?

1. Wrong paint scheme: passenger scheme on freight locomotive.
2. Missing the locomotive number (blank number board). According to the Edisaurus MKT Diesel-Electric Locomotive Roster, MKT only had one Alco FA-2, number 331A, later numbered 87-A.
The model is a Kusan, so the KMT in the oval stands for Kusan Model Trains, much the same as the "Built by Lionel" stamps on Lionel stuff.
Bob,
Kusan is correct! But that is only half of it. There is more to this photo.

Kusan locos ran on 2 rail track, not 3.
Purplepapa,
Also right! This Kusan has received a homemade three rail pickup and bridge rectifier. But there is one more surprise. It has to do with the set of cars.

The cable reels on the flat car are labeled LIONEL. Just a thought.
Waiting on the final answer.

I like the brain teaser. I caught the KMT but don't have any background knowledge about Kusan history. Nice train in great condition.
I believe the Kusan engine is from the late 50's. The cars are from a Katy set in the 1992 Lionel catalog. They are 30 years younger but look like they go with the Kusan engine. I'll post a picture of the Lionel set tonight.

Here is the catalog photo for the set of cars, the "High Plains Runner" from 1992 book 2. For those that are interested, the set number is 6-11728.
These older sets can be had almost mint for good prices today. For those who think the hobby it to expensive to get into, they could buy these older sets and stick a Electric Railroad Sound Commander in it at half the price of a new set, and only miss out on remote control. But what am I saying? This is something someone outside the hobby would not think of unless a friend or hobby shop suggests it.
