Everybody seems to have an opinion on new items they would like produced.  Operators of small to medium sized layouts are sometimes forgotten by the manufactures. Someone on another part of the forum suggested a Rail King Imperial NYC Niagara. I’ll second that idea, and while I’m at it, how about an Imperial Lehigh Valley Black Diamond pacific, not a repainted Milwaukee Road 4-6-4 thank you. And of course matching 60-ft cars. I realize new tooling is expensive and the economy is crappie, so I don’t really expect to see MTH make that investment, but one can hope.
Also on my wish list:
B&O 60-ft streamlined passenger cars painted in the traditional blue and gray without the silver lower panels.
A GE 44 ton. That’s a small locomotive so Premier would be OK
A USRA Mikado and Pacific with a Vanderbilt Tender.

I would enjoy seeing more Geeps or Alcos in some lesser seen roads, such as Chicago & Eastern Illinois, Columbus and Greenville, Maine Central, Green Bay & Western.

I would also like to see an expansion of 60' passenger cars and incorporate those into a set with a single E-unit.  A set with an engine and three to four cars including an RPO and a combine.   I'd buy a couple sets if the roadnames were appealing.

I think the Railking Scale diesels are the best value on the market today.  I would love to see their AS 616 offered in the original Norfolk Southern paint scheme from the 60's. (the same color scheme that the NS heritage ES44 diesel is offered in)

 

Also since the Railking scale tooling for the F3's was the premier tooling from their 1999 offerings, I would love to see their Santa Fe F3's offered in the same colors as the 1998 / 1999 offering.  It had the BEST looking red of any Santa Fe Warbonnet engine I have ever seen.

I would love to see a RailKing PRR J1a, but I'm not sure how well it would selectively compress.    I can't run a scale version because of my less-than-O72 curves;  all the scale J1's I've seen seem to have O-72 as a minimum.    

 

Wouldn't mind seeing the all-blue with yellow letters B&O F3's.   I've always liked that scheme for some reason.  

 

As far as reissues go, the Empire State Express Hudson would appeal to me with PS3.   I could run the scale version, but I'm cheap :-)

 

The ES44 in standard issue NS black and white would be useful to me as well...

I'd love to see a Ralking Imperial UP coal-turbine.  I havethe MTH scale version, but while it will run on my 72 and 84" curves, its just too big to run - severe overhang on curves, too big to make it through otherwise realistic looking tunnel portals, etc. Looks ridiculous and its a hazard to anything near the track around curves.

 

MTH could "compress" it about 15% in every dimension - so it would still have the same relative dimension and look prototypical - not look so shortened and truncated as many RK units do.  And it would still be tall and big and impressive in every dimension - still as long or longer than a scale PRR S-1 or a Big Boy, etc. and even a tad taller than a scale F3, etc.  But reduced that much in size it would "fit" on my layout a lot better and I'd run it a lot.  I might even buy two: a pair would be impressive as the dickens at the head of a forty car train, (And yeah, I know there was only ever one of them, but . . . ).

 

Talk about a looooong shot: RK Imperial PRR Q-1 Duplex - the bullet-nosed 

4-6-4-4 original. Love the loco's design, but I'm not a PRR fan as such, and the

3rd Rail versions are rare and huge. I just like the looks of the thing.

 

- an 0-8-8-0 Camelback in RK Imperial (of the same quality as the RK Triplex);

various road names (like the Triplex). The RK 2-8-8-2 chassis would be the basis;

new boiler, pilot, etc.

 

- any of the Really Big Stuff that a lot of guys can't run or don't want to "afford",

but could be produced in a presentable, simplified "1:58" form - like the K-line

As mentioned above by KevinE and by me on prior catalog threads, I'd also like to see an "Imperial Line" R/K GG1 that is a size between the traditional 13.5" and the scale length model.  That said, I would be more likely to wait and see the finished product before pre-ordering after being greatly disappointed by MTH's most recent PS3 R/K Imperial PRR M1b that greatly lacked the advertised add-on details (truck chains and separate class/marker lights instead of the old cast-in style) and found in their prior Imperial products.

 

Also would like to see an updated doodlebug with more add-on details.  I would also like to see MTH stop including vista dome cars in the PRR passenger sets.

 

In the premier line a PRR H10 2-8-0 and a GE 44 or 55 ton center cab switcher.

In tinplate, either a Std. Gauge or O Gauge Polar Express set.

 

What about a Mid-America passenger set for those that wish to model the NKP 765's Norfolk Southern excursion train?

 

I'm doubtful that we'll see much, if any, newly tooled products, especially in the Railking lineup.

Ditto on the lesser road names.  C&EI, The "J" ,  Chicago beltway, north shore lines, etc.

1. Semi-scale Acela

2. Something to compete with the Lionel Trackmobile like the Brookville Des-70B http://www.brookvillecorp.com/locomotive-freight.asp Maybe a Railking Scale version.

3. A separate-sale F40PH with PS3 in Railking.

4. Ditto on AVR stuff

5. Command control automobiles that compete with Bachmann Superstreets (maybe they could have the front axle turn so cars could go around sharp D16 curves)?
