I have stopped buying Postwar trains as I have all I desire (at least for now)😉.
MADE in USA. Good enough for me. That woman used to be sweet and cute. Sad. (Yes, I know this is a joke. )
You're posting this on the traditional 0 and 027 forum - both of which can be hi rail.
You should be thankful for the traditional lines of trains... you wouldn't have any of the scale stuff without them. Even to this day, that's what keeps Lionel in business.
A better slogan for the photo above would be "Stop telling people what kinds of trains they should like and enjoy on their own layout."
Or "If you going to buy high end scale trains that are produced in runs of a couple dozen to a few hundred, don't expect to be able to find parts for them in the not so distant future."
Ah, now there's a big bonus of postwar and MPC trains, which were produced in the multiple thousands. But buy what you like. Just beware there are pros and cons to everything.
I don't understand the point of this post at all. Does it mean "I hate powtwar trains?" Or does it mean "Stop buying them so there'll be more for me?"
Either way, it doesn't make much sense. Who cares what other people collect?
I have slowed down my buying on trains in general, but only because I am running out of space. I have to ask myself where I am going to put something if I buy it. As others have pointed out, postwar, MPC and other conventional trains are very basic, but very fun too. I have postwar trains that are older than I am (I'm 62) and still run well and always will even after I'm gone.

Maybe it could be a lot like Seinfeld, which was called a "show about nothing". I took it to mean what is your view of buying Postwar trains with a twist of humor added. In the end it is all about an individual viewpoint of how they want to have fun and personal preferences.
It's just the OGR being OGR.
You can't think to deeply on some of these threads.

IF'n I was in 3-rail, I would take it as "Stop buying them so there'll be more for me".
I must admit I have a long-term appreciation for Post War, particularly the steam engines (excluding the 773) and little Alco FA's. There's a particular charm and magic in them.
HOWEVER, I also see validity in the "realistic" 3-rail approach using excellent running modern offerings amid superb scenery ala' Norm Charbeneau (sp?) and others.
However, for my foreseeable future, I'm firmly in HO.
BUT...
It's all good!
Andre
I would add to that. Stop buying postwar trains and send the ones you have to me as fast as you can.
is there anyone else who feels that it may not be long before current production will eventually be referred to as modern prewar?

I posted it because I think it’s funny. And it represents my wife’s feeling about my train purchases of any era trains. I can’t be the only guy whose wife hates their collecting trains.
I wouldn't make use of the word "hate".... Perhaps more like.. "really!??" However, when I put together the Texas Eagle Amtrak train we met on in 2003...…..
