I am only aware of two manuals for the Hobby Horse press outfit.
Both were put out by Hobby Horse.

The first one predated the press outfit they put together for Lionel. It's my guess that it is the 1990 one you already have.

The manual was revised when Hobby Horse put together that package, somewhere around 1992.

I am not certain how much was changed. I will try to find mine tomorrow and let you know.

I got out the newer manual.

It looks to be the same are the 1990 edition.

There are one or two pages showing the new anvil holders that were created for the LTI press. They are not bound into the book (spiral bound), so I can scan them and post the images if you like. Just let me know.

By the way, I find that the two main issues to getting good results with an arbor press are:

  • selecting the right clincher. I do this by sight, choosing the tool who's rolling "button" is barely larger than the tubular rivet. I find that if the button is completely hidden by the body of the rivet, it won't roll. It will just crush. Sometimes I start a clinch with a larger tool, and switch to the next size down to finish it.
  • Make certain the item being squeezed is square in the press. For example, a tubular rivet will not self-center on the anvil. If it is crooked , then the clinch will be crooked. This applies to mounting wheels too.

Rob: if you need copies, emailed, I need your e-mail address. I will also post the material here. A couple of notes:

  • Image img082.jpg is a list of the package contents. I have looked at a few sets, and I believe there is an error. It lists LTI-1007 as a fifteen piece tool set. The LTI-1007 tool set had seventeen pieces. The extra two pieces were an American Flyer eyelet clinching set.
  • The list does not include the track pliers (6ST-0384-001).
  • The list does not include the wheel puller. With one exception, the sets I've seen came with a 6ST-0312-001 wheel puller. One set came with a Hobby Horse wheel puller. The instruction sheet for this wheel puller is img078.jpg.
  • While I have not seen a set assembled this way, I have heard that in later outfits the GG-1 wheel cup set consisted of only two pieces. All the sets I have seen came with four GG-1 wheel cups. (Total: twenty wheel cups)
