While everyone else is going through the software on the Cab3 app (and I have been too making my list of bugs). I wanted to take a look behind the curtain a little and see how the assembly of these have gone.
As most know though the years we’ve all identified weak points with different bases, the 991 Base has the binding post on occasion came unsoldered.
first and foremost there are security screws holding the BASE3 together. then you find the top slides off very easy and exposes the power supply and main PCB.
a couple of plugs and the bottom/ sides fall way leaving you with just the main assembly
wire routing was done neatly everything has plugs and the track radio binding post seems to be very well secured. Amazed by all the different radios shoved into this thing.
the power supply is definitely different (not just a transformer any more) but I’m sure that’s thanks to the UL and DOE. The on/off switch is rated at 6A so should last a long time.
I have that technician brain that just wanted to see all the behind the seems work and I’m very happy with all the care taken into this design.
best part not little metal mesh grates to loose or figure out how to reinstall 😜
