What's the difference between a PS2 & PS3 GG1 aside from operating pantographs, no battery and perhaps different crew talk in the PS3?
Thanks in advance - Ponz

PS3 will have LED lighting and better sounds.

Thank you
It has been mentioned here that the early PS2 was problematic from a reliability standpoint. The later PS2 and PS3 do not seem to have the same problems.

Fortunately, I've been told my PS2 has a 3v board, which isn't as problematic.

I assume those in question are scale? Both PS2, 3V and PS3 have operating pantographs. The level of detail is identical. The PS2 had bi-color LED class lights as markers i n directional changes. They didn't continue those into PS3. The " as delivered " sounds fidelity seems to be the only noticeable improvement with PS3.

Problematic? Not to those experts in a purple haze

So, there is no issue with PS2 5 volt boards?

The only "issue" would be, that neither the 5 volt nor the 3 volt boards are available any longer. Thus, if you fail one, then the only two options are: 1) up-grade to PS3, or 2) convert to TMCC with an Electric Railroad kit.
