What's everyone think?

So far, this new format is going to take a while to get used to. I'm not too happy with the way it's organized.

Yes...Seeing peoples faces along the lists of topics is very distracting and has nothing to do with the actual topic.  I hope this gets changed as well.

I like it!  I think that there is a lot of potential for this new list serve.  There some issues that are mostly due to being new-----old habits die hard.  My next hurdle will be photos and my avatar.

I sure do like the ease of posting photos and its nice to see all of us are still here, now if I can get my video problem cleared up. I will get to the apple class this week and get there help, and boy to I need help.

I would much rather see the member's user name than a picture.  Other than that, I like this new forum.

I liked the old setup better, and I am a young and computer capable guy.  This new format just doesnt seem practical.

Doesnt mean i will visit here any less, but there are a lot of things that I do not like about the new setup.

Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. I'll get fed up and spend more time on my layout instead of staring at the computer. Or it can back fire and spend no time with the trains and lots of time playing with the new forum. Time will tell

For me the jury is still out.  May need a week.

I for one would like to see the joined dates back next to the avatar or somewhere on the page..........because i should have tier 1 senority

Seems a bit more awkward, but like anything new, it will take a bit of time to get used to.  There will probably be some more tweeks and adjustments made as the format matures.

For the 25th time today...click on FORUMS - FORUM LIST. Bingo...ALL the forums listed on one page.

It sucks! I don't like it. I'm posting this on my other computer as my primary computer goes blank when I choose a topic after 5 seconds. I see print but as soon as I scrool down the page goes blank!  The list of topics in a section is to short, not like the old board. Then the posts to a certain topic is to short as well. I also could do without lookin at peoples avatar all the time as well, some people are just to ugly and stupid looking! Sorry people. All the bugs should have been weeded out before executing a new site, obviously this site hasn't done that. The smart thing that should have been done is have the old and new so people could critique it so things could be fixed. I guess my opinion doesn't count here.

I used to think it was just the trains that made everyone whine and complain.......apparently not. ****ed if you do ****ed if you don't. Jeese, it hasn't cost anyone a penny......pathetic. Maybe Rich could offer folks a "subscription" back to the old forum.

You know Stubbs, it is responses like yours that suck the life and enjoyment out of this for me and everyone else here.

Almost ALL of the problems you are having are not bugs, they are because you don't yet know how to use this new forum.

Your screen goes blank because your browser is out of date. If you had done any reading here at all before whining about this you would have known that. Update your browser and the Java apps.

You looked at peoples avatars for years on the other forum. So why is it a problem for you now?

We moved a TERABYTE of data to this forum in a few hours this morning and it works FINE, with no bugs. But we obviously totally screwed it up as far as you are concerned. Give me a break...

Go play with your trains or do something else other than post here on the forum. You are clearly not happy here.

My old XP at home seems to like the new format better than Windows 7 at work.  Haven't tried my MacBook yet.

It takes some getting used to.....but I think it will come with time.  I remember, when I signed up in August 2000, I was using a Pentium 75 laptop with a dial-up connection....and with time and practice I adapted and grew with the technology.  I think by giving it a little time and playing with it, we'll all get there.  Good job, Rich!

I like that I don't need to resize photos......Jim P does look younger!

I will take my try at videos next.

Looks the the CTT forum if you ask me. Or at least what the CTT forum looked like last time I looked at it about 4 years ago.

Had to upgrade to IE 8 in order to view forum topics. IE6 just made boxes gray.  IE 8 seems slower than 6 but I will get use to it, I guess.

Anyway so far so good.  Like what I see.

So Far Good -As with any system upgrade / change it will take a bit of learning.  Within a couple of days, will have forgotten what the old forum even looked like.

Call me when you and Dale are close.

On the plus side, using Chrome, it is blazingly fast. With IE kind of slow - but clearly a function of the browser. 

Constructive observation - I am less inclined to open topics and read them. Yeah, I know - go home and play with my trains - but that's how looking at the topic list strikes me, It's so busy, I don't really know where to look. That reaction will blow over in time I guess - just going by what my gut experience is now.

I am more inclined to open posts and read them from the list on the side of most recent however. Just feels more inviting, perhaps because the title seems more prominent than the dominant picture of the avatar on the full forum list. Again - these are just human responses - what feels more inviting and though provoking vs what feels confusing. Trust me, I'm not easily confused.

I do think this, atmosphere may lead to what I mentioned earlier - a handful of very active threads as opposed to many somewhat active threads. On the old forum, you might have twenty threads getting constant action - granted that may have been 1000 posts divided among twenty topics. I use these numbers only as a convenient example. In this format, you might have teh same 1000 posts concentrated in seven or eight topics. Not that the other topics aren't worthwhile, just that they are now "less inviting."

The response to this observation could be "hey we can't hold your hand - don't like it? Get lost!" and that's certainly anyone's prerogative. However, perception is everything and although it may be no more difficult to go one place as opposed to another to find to the topics, if the masses perceive it to be uninviting, they will follow their instincts and habits and act accordingly.

My two cents, submitted as constructively as I can put it. 

on the buy-sell page, I would like to have the posters name or handle listed beside the post, this was available in the old one and since it is on all other posts should be doable?
