Erie - early '50s. I received one as Christmas present in 1953 and it still runs great! It was my first locomotive and got me going on O scale. 59 years later, I'm still at it!
Best little Alcos today are the Williams 027 jobs with two cans. Love to see
some of these made in roads that never got done in the older, high quality
format, such as the 209NH, and the 208 AT&SF freight, or B&M.

Andre to answer your question I used two small brass machine screws to secure the body to the frame....its on the side of the carbody and then just tapped small threads on a high part of the die cast frame...all this is not really necessary because the shell fits nicely on the frame.

I have all of the early Lionel Alcos except for the gray nosed yellow Union Pacific. All of these engines are superb runners. My favorites are the 2031 Rock Island AAs and the 2032 Erie AAs.
