Back about a lifetime ago, the late Robert Whelove of St. Louis scratchbuilt a georgeous Wabash 4-6-4.  With decals custom made by fellow St. Louisian Bill Clouser, it won (I believe) first prize in the Convention held in Miami - that's how many years ago it was.

Does anyone know where this model is today, and would they post some photos?

A quick search of the Model Railroader Magazine DVD shows it won first place at the NMRA national convention at Miami Beach in 1967.

There are a couple of interesting articles about Mr. Whelove and his models.  He built (in 1963) an HO scale model of Wabash 700 before starting the O scale model.  In the mid 50's he built an O gauge loco with a water tight tender which he filled with water to obtain additional weight.

What about Don Beeman he used to scratch build in 17/64 scale,I seem to remember a freelance Pennsy T1 with six wheel trailing truck, and a Chicago & North Western 4-8-4.Where do these models go. Whelove,Corbin, Beeman and othere's where my O scale heros when I was younger. They where all admired from a distance(Australia)through the pages of magazines. It would be grate to see pictures of there models if people have them and would share them.
