Coffee
Coffee
I don't drink anything while engineering my railroad. Just to busy tending to the duties. I would not trust myself setting a coffee or water bottle close to all of the electronic equipment.
If I had to make a choice it would be a water bottle. I would not choose alcohol because as the engineer I cannot have any amount of alcohol in my blood. All the passengers on my train are depending on my being fully alert while operating the locomotive.
Diet Pepsi on the rocks.
I'm with Bob for the most part. But, if I do, it would be Root Beer or Orange pop/soda.
Rick
I usually run dry, but coffee is the choice if hydration is needed for long runs.
Club Soda
or
Flavored Seltzer water
on a glass full of ice
Pepsi.
Things (my Trains included) go better with COCA COLA
I don't drink and drive, but after a session I'm kind of partial to Chivas on the rocks or a decent red wine.
A can of pale ale. Sierra Nevada or maybe a local Texas brew...
Pepsi
Coffee in the mornings (Emiril's Big Easy Bold), mid-day just cool, clear water, and in the afternoon, particularly on weekends, as long as I'm not using power tools, a PBR or two.
I've gone from Coke, to Diet Coke, to Diet Caffeine-free Coke to Barq's Root Beer and now drink a big glass of water with various Mio flavorings.
During the Christmas season.......egg nog spiked with Crown Royal.....
or hot chocolate spiked with peppermint schnops.

When building and weekday running, Diet Coke. Holiday parties and family gatherings, improved with adding some Brugal.
The same thing I drink from rising to retiring, sweet tea or Mt Dew.
Coffee. Train time is generally during the day. The train room is in another building and after a nice homemade dinner and a glass or two of wine, I don't usually feel like leaving the house. Besides, you're not supposed to operate machinery when you're drinking.
I use to bring my coffee downstairs to the trainroom in the morning but I'd get busy doing something & the coffee would get cold so up the stairs I'd go & reheat then back down. You get the idea. (LOL) I finally bought a cheap microwave for downstairs. In the afternoon I use to bring a soda with me but I always seemed to forget where I would put it (like my tools) so I stopped that.
This really comes in handy when the train movements get complicated and you're operating two remotes at the same time...

Ice water, with lots of ice.
Mt Dew or coke, no alcohol allowed.
We often have "Run Beer, Drink Trains" sessions throughout the year. When we all get hungry in the evening, we adjourn to the local independent Pizza restaurant for great Pizza and more,,,,,,,,,,,BEER!
Water or soda. No booze! Did that once or twice for the family at a holiday gathering after drinking some wine. Never again-it's like driving a car under the influence. Too many things operating and you have the remote!
Pepsi on work nights and Pepsi and Captain on the weekends.
Coffee or Diet Caffeine free Coke
Yuengling Lager.
Nothing in the train room. I don't want tiny uninvited guest or accidental spills.
The only exception being when I host our club meet.
Jim
Served neat...sometimes with a splash of water.
