White Pinstripe on 6-15326 20th Century to match new Niagara

I purchase the engine in gray.  The engine has a white upper and lower stripe.  The cars have a blue stripe.  I was thinking of using a 1/8" or so white pinstripe to cover the blue lines.  I think it should be close.  The key is a matte white, thin and removable stripe (to go back to original).  Has anyone done something similar, and how was your result.  This will be only until Lionel produces a passenger set to go with this engine.
