I'm living proof that it is possible to have passion for Postwar as well as modern trains. Betcha that I'm not alone.

Here is an opportunity to share your favorite modern trains and accessories, and the technologically amazing things they can do.

I will start us off with Lionchief Plus running with the hand held remote. They are not cheap, but not prohibitively expensive, and have wonderful sounds and smoke:

LC+ are also great for children because they are easy to operate. Arnold

Mix it up, Arnold.  Why not ?   Some of the newer trains are not too complicated for my brain to grasp.....LOL   They certainly have all the bells and whistles we could only dream about with our post-war trains.  But there's one thing they haven't got, said the wizard, a heart.  Yes, a heart of iron.....LOL   Not meant as a put down of modern stuff.

Arnold, in your Proto1 video, what MTH diesels are those if you know? The height of them looks good with the traditional rolling stock you're running. I had one of the Dash-8's at one time but wasn't entirely happy with the selective compression of it. They did a much better job with the later issue Railking SD90MAC. There is definitely an "art" to selective compression of proportions.

Obviously they're Railking, but some of the early RK diesels (before RK diesels went mostly scale) towered above the height of traditional rolling stock while others looked good.

The Union Pacific and Conrail diesels are MTH Railking, and are semi-scale like the train cars they are pulling.

The Conrail engine was part of a Railking set. That engine has no sounds, just a horn, and may be an early MTH prior to Proto 1.

The Union Pacific has sounds and is definitely early Proto 1.

Both are very smooth, rugged, reliable and trouble free.

Hey Arnold, I bet we're far from the only two guys to have the Sunsweet girl on our layouts....

I didn't want her to be lonesome, so I filled up an empty space with some pics of my favorite movie actresses.

Jerry, who is that very pretty brunette under the bridge?

Arnold:  That is the young Elizabeth Taylor, my favorite actress.  Think, white dress, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.  The blond lady above the Bergen-McCarthy billboard is Gretchen Mol.  Her father taught high school with one of our poker group for many years.  Needless to say, you have to be extremely attractive to help fill that space, not to mention being in a good movie.

Since you asked...I also included Natalie Wood, Jill St. John, Janet Leigh, Marilyn, a young Jennifer Connelly, Diane Kruger, Vera Miles, Dana Wynter, and Julie Bowker.

Jerry, you are a man of exquisite taste. Your billboards and posters are the best!

Thanks Arnold, you made my day.

Oh, yeah, I forgot Senta Berger.  She is perfectly gorgeous, and I just stumbled onto The Quiller Memorandum yesterday.  A lousy 1966 spy movie, it had her and several good actors in it.  Too bad they had little script to work with.

I think Miss Berger is still living.  She is an Austrian film actress, with a lot on her resume.  That is two of her, on the bottom, between a voluptuous Jennifer Connelly and the famous Playboy photo of Marilyn.  I also love that pic of Natalie Wood, and hope the Marilyn pic does not offend anyone.

MTH Proto 3 CSX smoking diesel. Sure sounds like a real diesel locomotive to me:

Do you know the dance known as "The Bump?" This engine does The Bump against the casing of my Postwar Lionel 022 switches.

This bumping used to bother me, but now I like it. It does not cause any derailments. Arnold

JERRYG     First off I am certainly not offended by Marilyn at all and the other ladies are quite exquisite.  I have dipped my toe in the modern pool with an MTH standard gauge proto 1 passenger set...lower shelf.   I don't have room on my layout so I do carpet central operations in my guitar room around Christmas.  Also, the yellow UP M10000 is a railking proto 2 offering. Both have BCR upgrades and I find them a fun deviation from my usual pre/post war items.    FendermainIMG_2023
