Boxcar Bill discounted ERR boards selling them for less than ERR's website. Has anyone filled that discounted price void on ERR boards since Bill's untimely passing? Anybody selling at prices different than The Electric RR Company or discounting them at York next week?

Whoa, no responses yet about best prices for currently ordering ERR boards? Does the lack of replies mean either few people do tmmc conversions on their own or those people who do self conversions buy directly from The Electric ZRR Company? Wonder whether The Electric RR Company has special pricing for high volume customer repair techs as Boxcar Bill was?

Bill was an ERR Service Center, he did get discount pricing on ERR products.  Go to Electric RailRoad Company and click on the Contact Us link at the bottom of the links.  You'll see a list, ----- Authorized Dealer & Service Center List -----.

Thanks GRJ. See in my area Hennings, Grzyboski's and Nicholas Smith are listed. Will call and inquire whether they sell the boards to consumers below ERR's msrp like Bill did or if to get discount pricing on boards they require that they do the conversions.

BTW, do ANY of those places on the list sell TMCC boards to consumers at a discount like Boxcar Bill did?

I'm not being a wise guy, just interested in your post.

I believe the cruise is cruise control and think that's rail sounds 5 ???  the m would be ?????

If you would please explain 85 cruise m and 5  to ship.

Thank you

Larry

$85 for the Cruise M + $5 to ship.

Lower is always better, but, unless you are doing dozens of conversions - and if you are, I imagine that you could get "dealer pricing" - the ERR-direct price is not much higher, especially in the light of the cost of what these things are going into. I intend to order a couple of more, and I'll just send a check to ERR (I love bring able to fill out a paper form and send a check! So civilized.)

Actually...Bill kind of spoiled us on the ERR stuff. But other dealers do something on the price that neutralizes the shipping. So that feels good.

Prices are a mental exercise though...$5 or $10 one way or the other in this hobby is like noise on the signal and just may be what pays the rent for these shops.

How much are you looking to save?  A nickle?  A dime?  Fifty cents?  Do you really want it?

It's like owning a plane.  If you have to ask how much it costs you can't afford it.

You've got to pay if you want to play.  Pick a supplier and go for it!

As I recall, Bill charged $185 for a Cruise Commander and Railsounds and shipping was thrown in if you bought both. Compare to $210 plus shipping for the same two kits. For someone who buys 3-4 kits at a time it adds up to quite few nickels and dimes.

Don't do the train if you can't stand the pain.  I'm lucky.  Trains are just for fun and I don't do the whiz bang thang so it don't hurt too much.

Terxas Pete, Norton mentioned buying from Boxcar Bill could save you  $25 plus shipping -- most people wouldn't consider that size difference on two boards as  nickle, dime, or even fifty cent savings.

BTW, interesting philosophy from someone who has commented, "For me the attractions are LC+ is affordable..." and "Go form your own elitist club if you have spent more than $9999 on your train hobbies ...Nobody should need to care how much anyone spends on trains or anything else!"

You've got to pay if you want to play.  Pick a supplier and go for it!

Them are the only remarks I made, that other stuff wasn't me.  And I really don't care how much anyone does or doesn't spend on their trains.  Good luck on your quest.

So am I now.  The issue is there is not much margin, therefore it would be hard to find Brick and Mortar that can sell at the price Bill did.

He did do it for fun and to help defer his train expenses.  He had a nice business model.  G
