The color that is! Why doesn't some manufacturer produce a finished 3 rail track system that already has the ubiquitous "rusted rail" look? in my opinion it would be a big seller. Does anybody know if this has ever been attempted?

Just do what I do - use plain ol' used tubular track. Inexpensive as well!
Pretty sure years ago I saw Gargraves track with all 3 rails blackened for sale. While not quite weathered rail. The outside rail didn't stand out. I don't know if it was custom ordered this way or they had a brief trial of it.
I've seen pre-weathered two rail O and HO track for sale, so it is possible. I don't know why the 3 rail track manufacturers haven't done it.
