I updated the firm ware in my wifi and things got worse than they were before. I have a REV H TIU power up with Lionel 180s TIU has its own power supply I use all 4 outputs  to run my layout the VAR are set to fixed. Before the update when I powered up all 4 all would go inactive so I finally figure out that if I did not power up the var 2 that all is well then I would power up var 2 when things were running. Now after the up date I have to leave both VAR off until it is up and running only thing is I have 2 engines that are on VAR 1 so now I have to power up with VAR 1 plug in to fixed 1 and then when all is in the active list turn on power to both VARs wait for them to go hot then really quick unplug and plug it back in to VAR 1.  Is the WIFI compatible with the REV H TIU. I have 2 android devices both do the same.

fixed output 1 7 engines, fixed output 2 4 engines, var output 1 2 engines, var output 2 0 engines all engines are PS3

any suggestions

Thanks Henry

Barry I did the up with my phone and I followed the direction from the manual that MTH has on there web site. The WIFI unit  did a reboot when it was done it took about 2 min to do the update I know that the direction said to wait 3 minutes but when it reboot I figured it was done. I looked to see if the was a place that would tell me what level of frimware that was in the unit but did not see it. is there something that I missed

Thanks Barry, both the TIU and remotes show 5.0 , I guess now I will deal with MTH. So far this wifi  has not been great for me although when I can get it to work I like it but I have spent way to much time working on it than enjoying it.

When I start the app it starts OK I guess the "reading" comes up for about 5 seconds then when I look at the top to see if the engine is ready I see "inactive" next to the engine name. Then when I look at the pull down list all show inactive. So now when I start up for the first time I have to power down both of the VAR powers until my app is up and running and shows all my engines active then I power up both of my VAR  channels and move the one over to VAR 1 so my VAR 1 engines will be ready to run if i want them but if I do a refresh with VAR 1 and 2 power up all will go to the inactive list.

Is there anything is side the TIU that the REV L has over the REV H. I am sure that when MTH dose all of there r&d they use the latest that they have,or maybe I have something in side my TIU that is bad however all works well with the remote.

Thanks Henry

There was an issue that came out about a REV H not working with DCS 5.0 for loading sound files.  One of the techs who post occasionally had the issue.  Unfortunately, more specific where not spelled out in the note.  Just a warning to use a later TIU for sound file loading with DCS 5.0.

The easy test would be if you have some one nearby who could loan you a REV L for a test.  If that clears it all up, the H could be the issue.  G

I did the up with my phone

Quaere whether the firmware can be upgraded from a phone?  As I read the manual it says to use a computer.  Did you both upgrade the WIU firmware and update the app?  If you're using apple I-phone, the revised app only came out within the last 1-2 days.

When is did the firmware upgrade and the app upgrade, all read problems disappeared.

FYI, right now most of my layout is running on a WIU connected to a Rev G TIU.

RJR, GGG, Thanks for the reply. Yes I do have the upgrade I am using a Galaxy S6 phone (smart phone dumb owner) and a Samsung tablet to run my trains. I am not to much of a wizard  when it comes to apps or computer setups old school I guess.

I have also read that if you are using the same device that you would only have to pay once for the upgrade I have paid 2 times so far when I changed my tablet if this is true how is it done?

unfortunately I am a loner around here (Waterford MI) no body to play with at least that I know of and the local hobby  shop that I use gives me the dear in head lights look when I start asking question about DCS but I guess I get along with Barry's book and this forum.

Thanks Henry

Henry, I also use a Galaxy S6.  It should notify you automatically when updates for apps you purchased are available.  If not, open Google Play store.  There are 3 horizontal lines in upper left corner.  Tap on them and a menu should open.  In the menu, tap on My Apps and Games, and a list of the apps you've bought should appear with the ability to update them.

The update for wifi was in 2 parts, an upgrade to the firmware in the WIU unit, and an upgrade to the app in your device.  Both need to be updated.

Having once purchased the android app, you should be able to load it onto multiple android devices, without further payments.  When/if the "pro" version is released, from the main operations screen, press more and then upgrades and hopefully it will lead you there.

From that "more" button, if you press settings, the bottom of the page will give the app version; current is v.1.10.

RJR I love you man I went to my tablet and looked up to see if there was an update and guess what I found, as I said earlier I am no GURU when it comes to APPS or computer setup,  ALL IS WELL NOW  but until now I did not know that the update was 2 part thought it was just the firmware in the WIU

whether the firmware can be upgraded from a phone. YES IT CAN even I did that may be just dumb luck but I did it.

THANKS AGAIN TO ALL ON THIS MATTER

Henry
