in the past there was a plan to place at least some of our ICBM force on moving trains to making targeting of them near impossible. the plan was scrapped for various reasons but word has it that there is thought of resurrecting the concept. I myself would like to see an o gauge minuteman train perhaps with operating realistic missile cars.

Does operating realistic cars mean missles with nuclear payloads? Build to order only?
I thought the 3665, 6650, et.al were fairly representative of the original idea from the 50s and 60s. There are some significant physics and environmental problems that still remain.
Submarines, aircraft and mobile truck launchers are still probably a better mobile delivery method.
