Have William's U.P. Diesel 3rd rail. Question can I set it up with my 990 command? Engine has sound board in both engine & dummy. If possible would like to run it with the cab1 remote. I don't see any program switch either in or out of engine and dummy. Can anyone help?

Does the engine have TMCC capabilities?
Majority of those Williams units were Conventional controlled OTT sound systems.
Stock out of box??? NO
You'll need one of the Legacy Powermaster units if you want to use the TMCC or Legacy system to control a standard Williams locomotive with the remote.
I did not think it would work, but thanks for the replies. Nice engine. I run it with a tap off transformer. Funny thing I went thru the 990 manual, it states that the 990 will run any lionel train since 1900? Here it is from the manual below:
(The LIONEL LEGACY Control System improves operation of every LIONEL ever made, starting in 1900. Enhanced speed resolution brings new realism to our prewar and post-war products, whether they are the originals that made history, or the TMCC equipped engines and operating cars that celebrated our heritage by bringing the latest technology to these great products. This control system is another milestone in LIONEL history.)
So my second question, how would it link up to older Lionel trains without a program/run switch? I am not going to beat myself up about it, was just wondering how it would communicate, , I assume it would just give it track power older train I have has no whistle or smoke, and no sound. It would be nice to use the Legacy 990 for older trains. Thanks again. Just an old kid asking questions, and learning, as I go.
That is using the Legacy PowerMaster I mentioned.
