Hi Guys!  I am very interested in a Williams 3 car Budd set that is currently on the Bay. The car nos. are # 420 which has Railsounds and a horn, #421 which is powered and # 422 a dummy unit. The seller states the set is 10 years old, has not been run during that time and is practically brand new. It's Road is Pennsy and this is a good looking set. It's a Buy Now for $210. I asked the seller the following questions and he has not responded. .......Does the Railsounds have a volume control ( knob ) ? I'm wondering if this sound is like the one I had years ago on a Williams GG1 with sound (not Railsounds) which was very loud w/o sound volume control. .......Do the car interior lights flicker (not constant lighting) ? ........I welcome any opinions good or bad. Also how do these Williams ( I have several Williams diesels  and I like them )  Budds match up with the many  (was a warehouse found full of these?)  Lionel B&O Budds that are currently on the Bay? Thank you for any responses I receive and

have a real good 2019.

What is described as Railsounds may actually be Williams True Blast. I would be asking what year these were made and if it actually has Lionel or Williams sounds. Big difference. That price is not bad for these pieces. They are nearly identical to Lionel Budds. The front corners of the roof have a slightly different curvature but few would notice unless its pointed out.

Lionel Budd in the foreground, Williams behind.

That's a good looking set.  If I did not already own enough RDCs I would go for it myself.  Can't answer your technical questions.  Looking at the photo of the underside, I don't see any switches or volume controls.  But it isn't the best picture for minute details.

The seller has a 100% feedback with over 1400 transactions.  I would trust that he will get back to you.  The two Williams items he is selling seem to have been owned by him.

When buying trains on Ebay, I always look at the sellers other items.  If he is selling mostly trains, there's a good chance he knows his stuff, although that's not always the case.  Some  sellers have all sorts of items for sale.  To me, these people are either consignment or antique dealers that have come across model train items.  Some price way too high just because of the fallacy that all older trains are priceless.  While others just want to make a sale and have the item priced reasonably or sometimes low, if you're lucky enough to come across one.

Good luck.

Even in the real world, BUDD produced RDCs with differing detailing on the ends.
