Does anyone know if the new Williams GP-30, will be tooled in order that different phases of production can be modeled. The pictures show the current model to be a phase two, with the firemans side of the cab being longer. Most modelers aren't concerned about such things, but for guys like me who model the Reading Co.,the Reading diamond centers right in the middle of the cab, which is on a phase one .With the longer cab, it is quite noticeable on the phase two, with the diamond being off center. The Lionel version is a phase one, but is harder on the pocketbook than the Williams. It looks to me like the cab is removable from the pictures I've seen, which would enable a diferent phase to be modeled. Can anyone confirm this? With the new MTH trainmaster , they've tooled it so that different versions of trainmasters can be made.I hope Williams is doing the same with the GP-30.

For the money, these are very nice locos. I'm not that crazy about the first 4 liveries, but opted for an ACL which does look quite smart. I will buy a couple of Santa Fe's when they are done. I only paid $166 which was amazing. The sound's not too bad, although there is no volume control. The detail and finish is great. I guess when 2 or three are MU'd they will sound a lot better. Can you cut off the cab? I guess you could, but why bother?

The new GP-30's look nice and from what I can gather at the Bachmann website forum, there may be no more unpowered diesels or dummies as a lot of people call them. Williams claims it is almost as costly to make an unpowered unit as a powered unit so there will most likely be no dummies in a GP-30. Buy a second powered unit was Williams answer.

Like others I am waiting for the Reading Lines version to be issued if it ever is by Williams.

Really doubtful that Bachmann will offer more than one cab number for each roadname, as they are trying to get out of doing unpowered units.

Try Micro Scale Decals for letters to do another road number.
