Even if somebody had a Williams manual, they are not much help.

Do you know when this Williams engine was made? Or what is on the box? Is it Williams, Williams Reproductions, Williams Crown edition or Williams by Bachmann?

These are the five most common on box names for Williams. The reason I mention what is on the box, is because there are at least three sound systems that could have came with a Williams, anything from just a basic horn, Station Sounds by QSI, to the True Blast 2 system. The True Blast 2 system now has at least two versions, one made for Williams before Bachmann, one made for Williams by Bachmann and a new polymorphic True Blast2 made by Williams by Bachmann.

Let me know what is on the box or engine and I can probally tell you what sound system is in a Williams, and how it works.

Good thread.  It made me go out to the garage and find my Metroliner box.  I also have the W-Met200 Amtrak.  In the box I found the envelope with the instructions and warranty cards.  The instructions are the DIESEL OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS for the B truck diesels.

The good find is there are a couple of traction tires in the #809 box.  I threw a tire last time I ran them.  I just hope they are still good.

My 4 unit Metroliners have the True Blast II horn and bell and are Williams, not WBB.  Ed G

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have2 sets of Williams metroliners and they both are differ One set seems to have a plastic shell and other seems like steel. The one set came in red boxes and the other came in a white with maroon print. I wish they would reproduce these because I need pantographs.

From what I can see in the photos, the one on the left more closely resembles K-Line or has K-Line style truck assemblies and the one on the right side looks more like Lionel truck assemblies.

To be sure to get a good parts match take the passenger car with you to a repair shop or parts dealer. Williams used a few companies for parts.

This is just for some information, the Williams Crown Edition passenger cars have two different types of trucks that were used, or that I have seen. One set looks like the older Lionel post war with fixed couplers and the other set looks like newer K-Line trucks and couplers. I noticed this when I bought a second set(boxes were still sealed) of King Coal Reading Company passenger cars by Williams from the Crown Edition, both have identical Williams boxes(no different markings at all). The only difference is that the first set I bought in a master cardboard box with separate boxes for each car, the second set I bought each car separate from the other car.

Looks like one is a newer run then the other is.
