I have a Williams RS-3 with truck side frames that stick out further than other engines. These side frames strike the two binding posts nearest to the track on my Super O switches, throwing the switch.

If I were to shorten the binding posts, I would have no problem.

Does anyone know if Lionel made shorter binding posts? Alternatively, I would be happy if I could find plan hex nuts with the correct threads per inch. The binding posts seem to have a different thread count than a typical #4 screw with 40 threads per inch. Does anyone know which nuts would work and the threads per inch?

The engine trucks scrape along the binding posts, so with or without tape, it needs to be corrected. It turns out that regular flat profile nuts with 36 threads per inch are difficult to find, so I will probably just nip the tops off the existing binding posts with my Dremel tool. Thanks for the ideas.
