Williams True Blast Bell and Whistle won't sound on an old, but never before run steam engine. Any suggestions appreciated.

What transformer are you using!
Check wiring to unit, check speaker for open, if still no good it may have failed. Does happen. G
The transformer needs to have both the whistle and bell buttons or you will only be able to get the bell or horn to sound. I have an MTH Z-1000 and have no problems with bell & horn on True Blast 2 engines.

In my experience, Williams horns won't work with older (Postwar) Lionel transformers.
They work with all of my post war ZW's

Have you tried to hold the whistle button about three fourths of the way to full position and/or wait three seconds or so for the horn to sound off?
My post war ZW works great with my Williams engines for the horn feature.
