Happy New Year

Williams by Bachmann Trains has closed out a large amount of their o gauge engines. Patrick's Trains , www.patstrains.com has a huge amount of items at blow out prices. I am offering free shipping to OGR members. Please understand that a lot of dealers will have simular items on sale. This is the first big blow out in years. Just for example a Girls GG-1 freight set for $219.00, GP's $99.00 and to many items to discuss. Please see your favorite Hobby Store for their specials. These sales are one benefit to a slow economy.

Happy Railroading

Is 2013 going to be a year of inventory blowouts?  Far too much inventory and not enough demand?

You're right Allan, all the fiscal cliff clamor about those tax cuts expiring but for most that'll amount to less than the ss paroll cut expiring which nary a mention by [pols since neither of the parties opposed letting those cuts expire.

And when you see your next pay check, you'll notice a bit of difference there as well.

I just replaced a battery in my Buick for about 170 done. It hurt, but when the car refuses to start coming on winter... it's best to get it fixed asap.

I postponed some items until maybe Springtime. It's not all bad... particularly the EM1's falling by about half which has to really hurt the dealer who bought them..

I fear the Nation simply does not have the money anymore and I cannot tell you other than to hang in there and chin up.

I hope you all enjoy these great trains. Here is another great deal

Maybe they'll create some artificial shortages, as they appeared to do from time to time some time back.

Lionel must have a large amount of various starter sets still in their warehouse. I received an E-Mail from Lionel with about 6 or 7 starter sets on sale. I would guess that the dealers will be getting a sale list at even larger discounts.

I was referring to a REAL reduction in production volumes -- not artificial.  But I can see that the importers have very little track record of credibility that would help us believe what they say.  In fact, it's too easy to say volumes have been reduced just as a ploy to get folks to buy early.

Best to just wait things out and keep a close eye on the situation.  Discretionary income is down enough that none of this stuff sells out THAT quickly.  Even Lionel's Vision Line Centipedes are VERY readily available right now, and folks were predicting they'd be tough to locate shortly after their introduction.  Not the case at all.

Received emails from both Charlie Ro and Trainworld about set blowouts.  I'm not in the market for sets that often, so I can't comment on how good the blowout discounts are.  But it's another sign that importers and distributors are trying to unload stuff at lower prices than they would have originally planned.
