I am trying to wire a Lionel O-48 Remote switch to an AIU. Using two wires (red and black). I know that at the switch it self the black goes to the ground and the red to aux. in. At the AIU,
the black goes to the common, but where does the red connect. I will also put together to join main lines. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much! I do have that ebook but I am still not sure where the red wire should connect to the AIU - 1 or 2. Or do I just have to split a wire and run to both 1 and 2. Any help is really appreciated.

I don't understand your reference to a "red wire".
Just connect switch track's "Thru" post to SW terminal "1", "Out" post to SW terminal "2" and "Gnd" post to SW terminal "IN".
