I have a Wi-Fi unit that is suddenly not working.  I turned off the trains about a week ago and the Wi-Fi was working on the iPhone and iPad.  DCS functions normally via the DCS remote.  All the WIU connections are appropriate, but the TIU and Wi-Fi lights on the WIU are not lit and neither the iPhone nor iPad is picking up the WIU as a Wi-Fi network.  Both devices have been rebooted.

Given that DCS otherwise works, both the iPhone and ipad are not picking up the WIU and the connections are good, I am stumped and am thinking the WIU died.  Everything is connected to a heavy duty surge protector so I would doubt a surge killed it.  Thoughts?

Ray,

the TIU and Wi-Fi lights on the WIU are not lit

Is the Power light on the WIU lit? If not, check to makes sure that the WIU is actually getting power.

If only the Power LED is lit, reset the WIU by giving it power and then using a paper cli[p to hold in the Reset button (in its hole) for a 10 count and then removing the paper clip.

DCS Book Cover

This and a whole lot more about DCS WiFi is all in MTH’s “The DCS WiFi Companion 2nd Edition!"

This book is available from many fine OGR advertisers and forum sponsors, or as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!

Ray,

power light stays on but no change.  No other lights will illuminate except briefly and then off when unit first turned on.

Those symptoms would seem to be indicative of an issue with the WIU itself. It doesn't appear to e going through it's power-up procedure.

About the only other thing that I can suggest is, with the power off, to toggle the MTH/Home switch back and forth a couple of times and then try again.

If that doesn't restore proper operation, I'd suggest a call to MTH tomorrow.
