Vitto,
They are so BUSY at WGH, that there is NO way they would even think about doing upgrades. These show normally draw about 20-30 thousand people. So no I don't think they will be doing upgrades
York is like a vacation compared to WGH. The club I belong to has exhibited our layout at both recent WGH shows...the most recent one brought in 40 THOUSAND people over two days. MOst of those people aren't "train people" so MTH and ALL manufacterers try to have as many "hands on deck" as possible to get the public to take interest in the hobby and buy trains!
Unless I'm blind, I've NEVER seen MTH do TIU/Remote upgrades at York or any show.
Vitto,
last York..... 13K +
Last WGH..... 40K+
MTH also brings the service department to York and most of the office staff. To WGH MAYBE 2-3 people. Seriously, if they have 5 minutes that to talk to any one person they are lucky. Talk to Scott Smith and or any other DCS enthusiast. People are more than willing to help you upgrade your TIU, Just Ask!
Although MTH doesn't do DCS upgrades at York, you most certainly can get your devices upgraded, free of charge, at the 17th York DCS User Group Meeting on Wednesday evening of York week. You can also get your remotes cloned (copied one to the other), as well.
Watch for the meeting announcement later this week on this forum.
I found a local shop that does DCS upgrades. Wild Bill's Trains in Clinton Township, MI did it for $15. Seemed like a bargain to me.
That is a bargain! If he does a decent job I think I'll send all my conversions to him and just mark them up!
He is talking about TIU software upgrades, not engine PS-2 upgrades. G
Gee, I knew that was too good to be true! DCS upgrades are simply loading the latest software, that's a reasonable price, but not earth shattering.
