rthomps...RMT uses Fedex Ground or UPS Ground whatever is less. STANDARD rates are shown. RMT cannot show actual discounted rates on order form. Your actual invoice charge is usually less when we process.

However, each carrier has different criteria for setting rates and based upon your address, you may be classed in a special rate zone.

If 1 set was shipped USPS Priority, it would be at least $13+ and you are looking at 2 sets.

$10 a car is still a great deal even with shipping.

By the way, these sets are going fast!

Thanks.

John Pignatelli JR. ... Here is the 'secret ship'...

USCGC Mellon (WHEC-717) is a U. S. Coast Guard high endurance cutter based out of SeattleWashington. Laid down July 25, 1966 at Avondale Shipyards near New Orleans, Louisiana. Named for Andrew W. Mellon the 49th Secretary of the Treasury from 1921-1932 and launched February 11, 1967 by Mrs. John W. Warner, Jr., sponsor and granddaughter of Andrew Mellon. Mellon was commissioned January 9, 1968. She received her Fleet Rehabilitation and Modernization(FRAM) upgrades from 1985 to 1989.

Mellon was the first and only USCG cutter to be fitted with missles, test firings were also conducted in January 1990. She also received an anti-submarine warfare suite including the AN/SQS-26 sonar and Mark 46 torpedoes. The ASW suite and missle capability were removed due to fiscal constraints, but served as a proof of capability for all USCG cutters.

So John, how many USCG sets would you like to order?

Thanks.

We were away for a week of vacation and when I returned my package of six cars had arrived.  It seemed appropriate to put them on my "BEEPWorld" loop pulled by two of the BEEFs I modified for my war train last year.  What wonderful cars, and such a bargain!  I love 'em.  Nice siz, good shape and great paint and graphics.   None had any issues with wheels, couplers, etc.  And as a bonus each car came with one tiny figure: and I really, really need people for my layout now.

The residents of my layout's town, San Beattadaise, were relieved when these arrived. Although protected by tanks, cannon, etc., they were worried since rumorshad it that rival towns had scud missiles.  They will sleep well at night now, knowing these puppies are standing by.

Hello Walter thank you for the update, when the Coast Gauurd joined our little group of know it all's  the first thing I did was check out the new toys they have some spiffy stuff but no missles other then one had some sea aparrow anti aircraft missle for testing also, I believe they are gone know also, the coast gaurd is not thought of as a military offensive unit but a life saving unit formost. They are also used as a smuggling deterent. times change quickly these days here today gone tomorrow. They are very good at kicking butt with what they have.

OK Walter I will get a set of the missle cars, I got the tank cars, very cool.

John

They do some great stuff and I like Tom Clancy a lot for detailing how good their seamanship and professionalism is. I particularly like Manuel Oreza (Portagee) in Without Remorse, etc.

I think the "not a combat organization" characterization exists, and is true to an extent, because the Coast Guard is really not set up normally, like all other wings of the military, to take on offensive missions.  I understand the Desert Storm thing was sort of special - Navy caught without appropriate types of littoral support capabilities, etc.

Hey Ajrieck,

Nothing wrong with being on the floor:  with the layout being O31 curves, above:

A couple of hefty Willams BB, SD90,( trainworld blowout)  pulling on those RMTs,(2 fr sale), followed '91 purchases from Greensburg show, and Alaskan 1955-1960 hopper from a forumite (to help out OKLAHOMA)

Thank you, Walter! This is probably the best blowout I've ever even heard of, and I've ordered a few pieces, including passenger cars. To Frank 53's comment that Hobby Shops see red with this type of thing, my response is that it's a little like gambling; when you run into a fantastic deal, you feel way ahead of the game and tend to spend a bit more than usual. After all, look how much you saved...ps: I love hobby shops and support them, but not at my expense. Hobby shops can entice customers with little bins of great deals and keep them coming back to check out what's new. Specified loss leaders can increase overall business, as casual customers come back more often to check it out.
