Got a call from a guy that asked me to call his Pop about the article I did on building mountains for my layout. He gets OGR here on Maui and has a layout. He got hooked on trains when he was a little boy. The old sugar trains would run on Saturdays with passengers and he would ride them as a little boy. Can't believe there are two of us thanks to OGR. Wow, if and when we ever make it back to Maui, I have two layouts to visit. Happy Thanksgiving.
Are you starting a club ??
Roger you will make it back. We met a couple form the Midwest last night at a party that had never been to the islands before. They couldn't believe how wonderful it was and wanted to know all about living here. I told them someone has to live here. They are already planning their next trip. Don
I use to buy from a guy in Hawaii thru Ebay but don't know who he was so maybe a 3rd guy for you
Don, check your email. I am starting a Milwaukee Road caboose project and I need a little tech support.
I propose an OGR gathering at Mama's Fishhouse. Do you have room on your lanai for a sleepover guest?
Which begs the question, is a veranda loco on Maui called a lanai loco?
Mama's Fishhouse is the BEST. But when we leave, I feel like I just purchased a locomotive.
But that is the last place where we eat just before we board our plane on the way home. Awesome view and even better food.
Don - That's great! I know how much it increases the enjoyment of the hobby when you can find others to share it with. When your train friends increase by 100% that is a very good day.

Hey, if you're starting a club, perhaps I can relocate to the island and sell real estate there. How's your market?
Don for President!
Market is getting better all the time......don
We are thinking of maybe a Aloha Convention Meet. don
Congratulations on finding another hobbyist! On my island, there are five model railroaders, so we still have you beat. But not by much.
Arthur on Manhansack-aha-quash-awomack.
We'll be there in Sept. for a week, then there will be 3.
The title of this thread would make for a good cartoon - maybe like- I run my trains with conventional control and the other guy has a remote in his hand.
The other guy, Chariton, strated collecting Lionel in the 60's. He picked up a lot of his collection in the dump. People were junking Lionel here. don
