The Yankees have changed their triple A ball teams name to the Wilkes-Barre Rail Riders. The team is located in Scaranton PA. Just a FYI.

Interesting........Jim, that's a beautiful stadium you have up there (Been to it twice)......I wonder if they will have any joint promotions with Steamtown.....time will tell.

Actually you haven't!, The stadium was ripped down last summer and they are building a new one! From the pictures they have been showing it's going to be unbelievable.
OMG.......and there was nothing wrong with that one!
.....Does this mean it will be closer to Wilkes Barrie? Wasn't the "old" (and I use that word lightly because it was a palace compared the the "Diamond"-the stadium in Richmond) on the old interurban line?

Speaking of rail-themed teams, don't forget the Syracuse Chiefs... Yes, I know they're AA ball for the Nationals.

And don't forget the Purdue Boilermakers. Interesting how they acquired the name Boilermakers. Their Mechanical Mascot is a replica of a steam locomotive about 25 feet long, driven in all their parades.

Peter, the stadium is in the same place they just ripped down the old one and they are building a new one. (I know it's kind of a waste, but the pictures of the new one looks real neat!)
And also don’t forget the Altoona CURVE, AA affiliate of the Pirates. All rail fans know how they got their name! Plus there’s an amusement park with the roller coaster track visible from the stadium.

OK, then; don't forget the Gary (IN) South Shore Railcats, if we're talking RR-themed names!
I need a jersey.
I used to go to a antique truck show at Lakemont Park in Altoona and we would take in a Curve game next door at Blair County Park when we were in town.We also like to go see them when they play in Trenton and since me and my son are Yankee haters
We kinda adopted the team. The best time was when they beat the Thunder on there own field to win the Eastern League championship in 2010 (and that was with Petite pitching and losing one of the games in Altoona)...we went to the last two games in Trenton and got to see the celebration !
There was a time, not too long ago, when you could go to a Red Barrons game then head to "The Station" to grab a cold one. According to Wilkes-Barre legend, it was the same station where CNJ's "The Bullet" would pull into. I think as a student at Wilkes I spent most of my time at The Station for the cold ones as opposed to the legend.

The Chiefs are the AAA farm team for the Nationals. Before that AAA Bluejays. AAA Yankees. AAA Tigers. I do not know when they became a AAA affiliate but this timeline goes back to the 50s when i was born in Syracuse.
