Yard tractor in O scale!

On 4th picture, what the item just below the front bumper of the cab? Weight?

It is a long powered magnet to pick up sharp metal objects on the ground.There is a release button in the tractor to turn the magnet power off to drop the loose metal in the designated area.The front magnet hits the ground on uneven surfaces,so lawnmower sized wheels have been added to each end of the magnet to protect it when it hits the ground.My photos are from before the magnet wheels mod.

Spence should chime in on this one. He had Alan G. make a custom model of a Shifter. Really came out very nicely. Spence is a retired UPS employee.

Dan; I saw that one on Ebay & 3000 Toys. Here are a couple of photos that Alan Graziano made for me. I had him number one of the shifters with my tractor number.

well I tried Buying one from 3000 toys [actually two]. Their web page stock stated they had three but was informed they are sold out. I went to da' bay as someone had 8. I will wait and see if I actually get this item.

Every time I see this thread come up I think somebody has come out with some O scale Cub Cadet or John Deere lawn and garden products.

I use this... I got it at the John Deere Electronics Vendor Days 2014, in Fargo, ND:

Sure looks good to me. Anyone with a freight yard will want to consider this piece.

UPS is not the only user of these.  One of these runs up and down a nearby street

swapping trailers among gates of a large Japanese logistics center.
