My wife and I arrive Wednesday afternoon/evening for the DCS meeting and stay at the Sheraton Four Points right behind the Round the Clock Diner.  We stay usually until right before the Halls close on Saturday.  With the smaller crowds, Saturday is the day I like to check out the manufacturer's displays and look around for anything I may have missed from the previous days.

After we leave on Saturday we stop at Latucca's on Main Street for a good cheesesteak.

Back in the 1980's I used to scramble to get rooms, sometimes camping then, and

sometimes moving from motel to motel, when attending York.  With the booming

open shows, it seems like there were more people attending then than now.  Also,

in the last few years there have been a few more motels built.

I just wonder if attendance is really down, crowd smaller,  and is it easier to get a room there than it used to be in the boom years?  I'd guess first timers would still

have to scramble....

I used to be at York Tuesday through Saturday.  Nowadays I drive over on Wednesday morning (five-hour drive) and drive home very early on Saturday morning while most everyone else is still asleep.

Anyone who is considering going should have no problem these days making a hotel reservation somewhere in the immediate York area.  Hotels are kind of overbuilt there now and York Meet attendance (plus the decline/absence of the major bandit meets) has made it fairly easy to get a room even at the last minute.

I don't stay right in York, but I made reservations probably 2 weeks ago without an issue.  I'm willing to do a small commute(~ 20-25 mins) to get the better rate on the hotel.
