Neither my wife or my 17-year old daughter share my interest in model railroading.
When I lived in Houston, 20 years ago, I did a lot of sailing on Galveston bay. It's something that I wanted to get back for years. Then, two years ago, my daughter mentioned to me that she would like to learn to sail. It was a no-brainer that it was time to buy a small sailboat that we could take to either the lake near my house, the bay, or any place else that we wanted to go.
I travelled to upstate New York, where I purchased this 15 foot West Wight Potter:
One thing that drew me to this boat, was that there is a very active Potter forum and folks are
very friendly. It is also a boat that owners do a lot of projects to customise the boats to suit there own particular needs.
I love the fact that boat rigs in 20 - 25 minutes, and when my daughter and I take it to the lake ramp (1.5 miles from our house) we can get the boat in the water 30 minutes after we leave our driveway.
It's a great source of quality time for me and my daughter.
