outside of O gauge trains that are train related or other. Sometimes keeping life balanced is a good thing, especially when including family. What are your other interests or hobbies.

I am involved in volunteer therapy dog work along with dog rescue and re-location to forever home driving. Here is a photo of my Lady at a children's cancer recovery party.

Neither my wife or my 17-year old daughter share my interest in model railroading.

When I lived in Houston, 20 years ago, I did a lot of sailing on Galveston bay. It's something that I wanted to get back for years. Then, two years ago, my daughter mentioned to me that she would like to learn to sail. It was a no-brainer that it was time to buy a small sailboat that we could take to either the lake near my house, the bay, or any place else that we wanted to go.

I travelled to upstate New York, where I purchased this 15 foot West Wight Potter:

One thing that drew me to this boat, was that there is a very active Potter forum and folks are very friendly. It is also a boat that owners do a lot of projects to customise the boats to suit there own particular needs.

I love the fact that boat rigs in 20 - 25 minutes, and when my daughter and I take it to the lake ramp (1.5 miles from our house) we can get the boat in the water 30 minutes after we leave our driveway.

It's a great source of quality time for me and my daughter.

Finished this year before last . Other than the doors and a small amount of the body everything on the car is new installed by me and the guards Red paint was done by me.

It has a 350 HO pushing 425 HP and a Tremac TKO 600 5 Spd.

I built this in 1998 took me a year to finish. It flew hands off the first time and it's a great way to spend a lazy summer day

I also have a Harley but I couldn't find a pic Oh well

Well, to start with, whatever we're doing it probably doesn't match up to TexSpecial's "other interest". We all ought to be doing more of that.

Anyway, I look at "hobbies" in terms of what I major and minor in. Toy trains are the minor or junior partner. I major in things having to do with the consumptive use of the outdoors - hunting, shooting and a bit of fishing.

Speaking of which, it was cold out at the farm yesterday. And that golden sunset through the tree tops at the end of the day was priceless. And the night sky "away out there" is always amazing. It makes me wish I could identify more of the constellations and planets...

Hey Pete nice Martin.

This is my family Christmas 2010 The guy with his back to you is me (Hey they got my best side)Playing my 1934 Gibson 5 string . The guy across from me is my brother ,who retired at 50 because of his musical ability(Jerk LOL) As you can see by the bass he's playing .

The youngster to my left is my son who plays guitar very well but is fantastic on the fiddle . He has a 250 year old fiddle that belonged to his great great great grandfather and he can really make it sing.

My other interests include, but are not limited to:

Classic cars: current stable includes a 66 Lincoln 4 door (suicide) convertible, 69 camaro SS convertable and a 67 Stingray coupe.

Drumming: Love it.

Home Recording Studio: I started on this boondogle last year and Im still working at it. Its all analog and currently I am working to get all three 2" 24 track tape machines to work in syncronization.
I have waaaay too many interests outside of trains. Pets are a big one, we have a reef tank, Goffins cockatoo, 2 cats and a Beagle. I have an 84 VW GTI in the garage.

The thing that takes up the most time(other than family) is my fireworks hobby.

This is the delivery for 2011. With my 13 year old.

The set up for the show I did for my in-laws.

Politically - causes that enhance wilderness and wildlife preservation, specifically, Defenders of Wildlife, Sea Shepherd and other organizations that endeavor to protect endangered wildlife and campaign against hunting for sport/trophy.

Physics and astronomy.

Wilderness hiking - not much available in Kansas.

Dog rescue from "kill" shelters - assist in transport to new homes with Big Dogs, Huge Paws of Colorado.

Microsoft Train Simulator.

Jon, she's a beauty! Smile

Love the classic wooden boats, although I'm not sure I would have to patience for all the work that is involved.

Like Norton: Most anything two wheels. I've ridden bikes (mostly off road) for the past 42 years. Trail riding, Hare Scrambles, MX, FIM-type Enduro, Dual Sport, Vintage Enduro events, cruising, weekenders, road riding, touring, etc. I love motorcycling and enjoy motorcycling history. Fortunately, the wife enjoys riding too (she has her own off-road bike and loves to tour/cruise on her throne behind me on the HD Ultra), but she doesn't love it like I do. Here's a few pics of me (us) doing what I love:

Pic 1: Competing in a vintage enduro in the Arkansas Ozarks in 2007. (Finished on Gold Time and second in class. Not bad for an' Old Fart, eh? Won my class the next year. Moved up a class and placed second in that class the following year! Hooray for me!)

Pic 2: Wife and our touring bike at Ridgeway Colorado last June.

Pic 3: Me and the Deuce I owned.
