I use the white wire to trigger another Z stuff block signal. Look at signal placements in the real world on how a turnout has protection from all 3 entrances.
As far as triggering other accessories, there is a limit for how much current/voltage you can send.
thanks
Ret - please tell me what you are hooking the 1011 to. I may have a diagram for you.
Joe
As JDaddy says the white wire is the output of the internal IR detector. It can used to trigger another 1011, an accessory like a light or even a circuit board Z-stuff makes that can actuate the E-unit on a conventional loco so it reverses direction. The 1011 is an IR detector just like the MTH or Lionel ITADS.
If you cover the detector on the 1011 you can use it as a position indicator for a turnout (you need the 1000/2500 switch machine and a 1008 relay to do this)

Thanks for your help, but i'm going to get a 1050 signal instead and not the 1011.
Thank you again and have a good Sunday.
The 1050 is an excellent signal. I have these also. If you cover the IR detector you can activate this signal up track with an isolated rail. I can't remember if a relay is needed but the instructions will tell you.

okay...thank you.
The relay is not needed for the 1050. Unless Z STuff has changed their design in the past 3 or 4 years. It is very to hook up. and the instructions are easy and clear to understand. The relay comes in if you are operating more than one unit... As I recall..

You are correct....red to power and black to common...very simple. thanks
