I will eventually have about 25 turnouts with DZ2500 switch motors.  Does anyone see a problem using an MTH Z1000 brick to power the switch motors from the 14v AC terminals, while using the 18v AC barrel connector to power the electronics of the TIU?  For track power, will feed from a Z4000.

Thanks...gregg

This one is a little tricky to answer, There could be a problem.... First the Z-1000 and Z-4000 should be phased together because they're going to share the same common more than  once.

One is the non-derailing feature (outside rail) on the switch machine. The other is the AUX power for the tiu.

The pin on the TIU's  aux power jack is  common to the black tiu outputs (not hot as one might think).

You may need a continuity meter to get it right.

Greg Laiben,

These gentlemen have given you great information if you like the bricks,

my altertive is to use an old ZW transformer for powering all your switches.

I like this because I can add or subtract power as required depending on how many

switches I add to my layout, giving me ultimate power control for expanding my layout.
