Just got some PS-1 box cars from the bay for a pretty good deal. One of them is a Santa Fe 6-17295. Looks NiB but noticed one ladder bowed out. Kinda thought most detail pieces were brass but does this look like zinc pest? Would be my first experience.
I’m not too worried either way I got a pretty good deal and isn’t too bad. It can easily turn into a old AT&SF beat up box car 😉

Take a close look at the bottom of the car as well because some of the early 2000 PS-1 boxcars had that problem with their floors which is far worse than detail parts.
I’ve got some Atlas PFE reefers with the same problem. All the ladders have disintegrated.

from the sounds of it it’s just the early 2000’s PS-1’s to be leery of
