same old shot again with the CSX sign added. Thanks Serge Lebel. I can't resist this pic. Must remind me of the old rock and roll days. Someday I'll get some exhaust vents built!!
Thanks for looking (and this place to post), Joe
Having owned a large metal red iron building, I can see that your model is perfect.
as Mike and SANTIAGOP23 said, that engine house IS great

Joe, Your engine house is great. Where did you get the tappered I beam truss?

Thanks all. I made the trusses out of plywood. I just laid them out as a guess. I should have made them in 1 piece. Instead I had to glue the legs on. The building is a little rough in person. It captured the look of what I wanted.
Looks like the layout is coming along nicely. Hope you don't mind but I took the liberty of embeding your video.
I really love the look of your engine shed. The interior lighting looks spot on for HID industrial overhead fixtures. The exterior lights also look great. The different color washing the side of the building is very realistic. That's one place where dull coat would actually detract for the effect. The glossier finish looks just right for a metal building.

Seriously though your layout is coming along great, thanks for the pics and vid's. How are you powering your layout?...AC right?....How many blocks did you incorporate? Oh and by the way what are the dimensions of your layout?...Thanks in advance Joe.
Your engine shed is very nice and those loco's are top notch. Looks like you have a nice sized layout also. Keep up the good work. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the information and track plan, it looks great.

I was able to watch the videos and the pictures, thanks. Nice going converting those Lionel tank cars!
Thanks, but.... Ed R converted the black ones. I converted the white ones and two have sound. I'll have to shoot a newer vid. Joe
I also couldn't imagine unpacking so many cars, wow, especially now after packing all the ornaments away from the holiday.
Nice pass by.

As I run these I've found that the MTH PS2 decoders adjust the engines constantly. I even run a converted Atlas with PS2. The train has just the right pressure maintained. I can put my hand on top of a car and notice the engines adjusting for the drag of my hand! If I push, the engines will slow almost as if they're telling me to stop messing around. They are really sensitive.
After all that I'm pretty confident in the ability of the DCS system to run these huge consists. I'm going to try over 100 cars with a dozen engines spread through out the train. I've got to get some extra eyes down here to make sure things stay on track. It will get interesting when I build the mountain grades.
Kind of self indulgent, I want to keep this alive for sharing.
Helps me find some missing pics.

Do these post still expire???
Up top Mike asked who's P42. Reading it now It's an MTH.
I thought he was saying proto 42
Joe that is a great photo, I love the bridge.

I'm really disappointed that MTH didn't follow through with the "all new diesels will have the scale option". I guess they just meant newly tooled???
The Genesis has the 3/2 trucks and was an easy swap out. Fixing the pilots should be fairly straight forward as the prototype has a division right there in the body/pilot mount. I just never got to it.
The bridge in the pic is made of plaster and came from daebay. It's the only place that looks scenicked on my layout!
I know this post is almost 2 years old I just did a search for "engine house" and yours came up. WOW! That is so cool! I don't have the space for what you have but would love to add something to my new WYE siding spur.
stop!
I'm blushing!
Thank you!! Wow Sept.2011!!
It's not that the building didn't look cool overall. It's that I didn't finish the inside properly or do anything more since!!
(I'm busy outside building my G scale!)
