I remember this paint scheme on the NY & LB (Jersey Shore area), when the Pennsy sent the Baldwin Passenger Diesels there in the 1950-1960s era. One diesel and a string of PRR P-70 coaches or maybe 2 of them on the 'Broker'. 

Wouldn't this PRR Heritage Diesel look neat with Bennet Levin's PRR E-8s!

Can't wait to see the CNJ unit in Tangerine Orange and Blue.

That is a wonderful rendition.  The stripes make the engine look longer, lower and sleeker since they are 'thin'.  I would certainly buy one if Santa comes early.  Maybe the 'Pennsylvania' should be on the front half so it isn't hidden by the railings and move the herald to where the 'Pennsylvania' is. 

Hey, at least they got the colors right. It's 100% better than the N&W paint job. BTW, is RMT making 1:1 locomotives for NS now? That's one stumpy looking little loco.

I'm not trying to bash it -- I like all the NS heritage engines so far, even the N&W "Wabash" patch job -- but I find the road number and road name lettering placement odd.  I know a lot of folks would've preferred a brunswick green engine, bit I dig the passenger schemes that NS has been using...

Lehigh Valley or Interstate should be next, correct?

Brian I understand your point. I thought about that for a while and figured out why NS  placed it there. Most of the PRR diesels had the word "Pennsylvania" on the middle lower half of the locomotive. Unfortunately modern diesels aren't like the E8s back then so you have a lot more in the way today. So really NS keep the paint scheme "protoypical" of the Pennsy regardless of the actual look. 

I think they should of moved the number over underneath the cab and pin-striping. I say this because of this picture:

The N&W paint job is blue. Mabe it was supposed to be Pevler (Wabash) blue, but it isn't even close. Looks more like a Conrail paint job.

This is great - not an artistic blend job, but the real paint scheme. I wish they'd do more than one!

Noticed they're using the latest engine for this Heritage model - a GE ES44AC EVOs unit.

Looked up some info - I hadn't realized there will be such a large group of these that will be done. It's sure a reminder of how much railroads have consolidated over the years - lots of great roads gone.

The Interstate unit will be released tomorrow morning from Chattanooga.  I simply cannot wait .  It will have the full silver trucks, tank, etc. It's going to be stunning.  Stay tuned!

I believe both companies announced the model series not long after NS announced the real ones.

Given this just got shopped on the eve of York, what's the chance it'll find it's way to the York area for the show? ;-)

I'm from Altoona and know just where that photo was taken.  Hope Lionel makes a Legacy model.

Though, I do think Lionel's fictitious SD80 is a really handsome engine ... even to just display somewhere. I'm waiting for its release to see what that color actually is .....

I said the same thing, but was then schooled over on RYPN.org about the actual color of Penn Central locomotives. Very interesting conversation. Official paint diagrams posted on the thread call for "Brunswick Green." Yes, they use that term, not the PRR's DGLE.

I still think most were actually black, as I remember them next to DGLE units, but it is open topic with evidence suggsting that at least officially it was to be "Brunswick Green."

I was referring to the N&W blue unit.  I thought there was quite a bit of griping that it looked more like Wabash blue than N&W.  I'm not trying to stir the pot -- I'm just going off what others posted...

Anyway, I still think the lettering and roadnumber placement on the PRR unit look off...if people like it, though, that's what matters...good onya to NS.

Chris, way out here in the West (actually Northwest),  I've seen CSX and NS engines MUed with BNSF engines at times.  There is no reason why one of those new heritage units couldn't wind up here occasionally.

I get that.  Everyone has different ideas about paint schemes and aesthetics...personally I'm not crazy for the layout, but whatever.  If people like it, great.  Party on.

I'll be interested to see how closely the LV unit replicates Cornell red.  I understand that NS had DuPont working on recreating the original formula but I don't know how their effort turned out.  I guess that we'll get the answer in the very near future.

I know this engine is the wrong color, but if you want BIG, this is a Lionel Legacy DD35 at 22" long.

CPJim's post above of the Lionel SD80 Pennsy paint scheme looks more like I would expect the location of the stripes, keystone and cab number.  While I am please that NS did a PRR paint scheme, I tend to agree with those that think the layout is somehow off....

Lots of coaling towers still stand in WV.....This smaller one is near me in Roncevert WV

Back on topic.......I like it....but will need WBB to paint a Dash-9 unit for one in my price range.
