They are having open house with train rides. It's a great ride with a lot of track! Today and tommorrow 11 till 4.

The gauge looks like 7 1/2 inch gauge or 1/8th scale. Most eastern tracks are 7 1/4 and the rest of the US is 7 1/2. Most of the rest of the planet is also 7 1/4 inch. If you check around you will find that most major cities have a 'live steam' club some where close. The hobby these days is pretty equally divided between steamers, gasoline powered and electrics. The electrics are the fastest growing part of the hobby. Here is a picture of my SW1500 switcher. Russ
Wow, I just searched for prices and these things are up there! May be a long while before I can get my hands on one. 7 1/4 and 7 1/2" are both available? I'd better see what the club runs first. Maybe a retirement thing?
Most clubs have a public run day and are always looking for crews. Join the local club and they will get you trained and get you running trains in short order. If you have a knack for working with tools and have the room you can always build an engine. Most parts to allow you to do a home assembly of a good running engine are available.
