Just a few pictures to show the new MTH Rock Island E-8 set. I do not do much with Midwest Railroads but saw these in the catalog and knew they would be hot. Red is my color.
Today is a rainy day and these will go in servive.

Great-looking engines! I can definitely relate to what you said about trying to avoid certain geographic areas or road names...then you see something as beautiful as these, and all that resolve and good intentions go out the window! Enjoy the new additions!

Mike, I tried years ago to have just PRR and NYC. We all know how that goes. I even crossed the pond with the Duchess of Athol. The Rocks are better in person, the photo does not make them pop.
Marty they look sharp, nice clean graphics for lettering!
Marty, these are nice locos. I bought a pair in another livery and had them repainted into an Australian line, NSWGR. These E8's are the same as what we call a 42 class. I ran them at my club before I came over here, and now everyone at my club wants a set!
I love that color scheme...I am with you Marty, RED is THE color!!!
Alan
Wow Marty, very nice engine's.
Alex
love the graphics! hope somebody is selling them at York!
I never owned anything Rock Island and after running them in for a while today, I am very happy with them. I got the cars a while back and will make up a train over this weekend.
I thought Rock Island used red and black?

This is the second MTH model that I've seen wearing this particular Rock Island livery; the other was a U30C. Looks great, on both models.
I don't have an E-8... it looks like a nice model.
Rick
Thanks for posting Marty. Those are sharp looking indeed.
The photo's are great but they look even better in person! That engine with those cars are going to be a real looker running around the layout!
Very nice Marty Will these take O-54?
Re: the U-boats styling and the paint scheme... that's a great looking combination.
MTH's U30C has superior molded in body detail. The rear filters/vents, located below the radiator housing, really impress me. Specifically, the deeply cut-in detail.
You scored there, Alan.
Rick
Liam, I put them through a K-Line 0-42 switch with no issue.
Marty, thanks for the pics. I ordered my E8s from Charles Ro.
Hope they will be in soon!! Hope they run and sound as good as they look,
Thanks Again for the Pics.
Rock, I think Charlie got them in. Very loud sounds to start with and run fantastic.
Thanks Marty, I can't wait!!
Rock, he does have them. Carl Chancey picked up a set today.
Marty thanks for the info, I ordered a set last night from Charles RO online,
hope they still have a set to sell! Does your loco have a trumpt type horn
or muti chime horn sound. Either way I can't wait!
