I'm planning a layout expansion. I'm in a bit of a dilemma as my layout uses 0-27 style track, with 0-42 curves. 0-42 will be a bit too big to navigate the plan and 0-27 curves are out of the question. Are there readily available 0-31 curves in 0-27 style? Worse comes to worse, I could use O Gauge (black tie) track on the curves and "make it work" with the 0-27 style track both in aesthetics and functionality.

What about Marx track? I think it is the same profile but it is O-34. Might work.
Old Marx O34 is just what you need! It has the O27-size rails and ties. Eight pieces to a circle. I buy it up when I find a good deal on it. It's just right to make double-track around the outside of O27 curves, or around the inside of O42 curves, if you don't run really long equipment.
The Marx is good stuff. It works with Lionel O-27 style perfectly and has more ties for more realism. I used it when I had the O-27 style track on my old layout. I only have 8 pieces with two matching straights which I use under the tree now
Thanks folks. In past layouts, I've used a ton of different tracks at once. I'd like to keep this uniform. How readily available is the Marx track in new/like new condition? I'd assume it is rather hard to find in good condition, leading me to think about black tie track and "making it work".

I bought mine in a big lot that had a ton of rusty track, with some sand paper scrubbing then after sand paper wiped a sock with WD40 on it, it was cleaned pretty easily and worked great. Just don't use simple green
I'll agree that the Marx o34 is just the ticket. It's not too uncommon at shows, and it's usually very cheap. It does have black ties though (at least all of it I've ever seen does) and it has 5 ties per section, which makes it easy to find in a box of track under a table at a show. Not that I would know about that.
Here's a picture of a few pieces on my layout; they're the curve with no train on it.
Happy New Year!
