planning new layout. Have been considering Fast track. Have read some negative reports regarding 0-72 command control switches causing issues when locos pass through them. Interested in opinions from those with experience with these switches. Thanks!

There were some derailments reported. I had some with a single switch, not chronic. But I slightly bent the moving rail so a pilot would not ride up the outside rail and fixed it.
I would still pick the FasTrack.
The new command switches do have some QC issues with the rail spacing. I did the same thing as Chuck, I just formed the switch rail slightly toward the outside rail, so far it's solved the issue. Be careful bending them, don't get carried away, they are brittle and can break.

So far I have not had any trouble with any of my Fastback Switches causing derailments, especially not with the 072R or 072L as far as running goes. The Y's work perfectly also, I did have one 072L Command module fail after only 3 years, and one LED Track side light that failed for some unknown reason. When set up correctly I have never had any problems with all my different trains passing thru my FasTrack switches, no matter the size. Even my Tin Plate with the 12 wheel Tenders and massive 810 Crane Cars ride thru them perfectly, on every level of my layout.
I highly recommend FasTrack, take a look at some of the prior threads as to sound suppression engineering, and if you like realism, lots of the guys running FasTrack have some incredible looking layouts now. My Christmas FasTrack layouts are all child like wonderland, I never worry about realism on my Christmas Train layouts. From Street Cars to Tin Plate to Scale Diesels via DCS & Legacy, the layouts must run perfectly on every level.
IMO FasTrack is great Track & Switches, the low voltage Command Control Switches are top shelf modern remote control engineering, none better.

I have had trouble also, but mostly with 6 axle engines or a 4-6-4 steamer picking the point rail. Bending the rail and, if possible, a section of straight track into the switch solves the problem. No problems at all any more.

As I indicated when set up properly there is no problem, each individual layout as you have just indicated, has it's own engineering design demands, to make sure their chosen Trains run properly.
