Good Evening Mark the Menards Train Guy,

I wonder what the dimensions are of the coal hopper? Menards website has shipping dimensions but not the cars dimensions.

Regards,

Swafford

Swafford,

Here are some dimensions that I gathered. I hope this helps!

10-3/4" L (hopper only), 12" L (coupler to coupler)
3-1/4" H (including coal) measured from rail
2-3/8" W

Hi Mark, are any of these going to be in stores or are they going to be special order through the site? I was in my localish Menards yesterday and all of the train stuff was gone. I was looking forward to throwing some boxcars in the 15% off bag and everything was gone.

One other question - is the coal load removable from the hoppers?

It bums me out that a mid-western company makes a release of this sort with a western railroad.  I mean no offense to any road outside the mid-west, but Menards is a Wisconsin-based company and there are plenty of roads to choose from to honor Menards' roots.  These cars are beautiful, without a doubt, and a great addition to what Menards already offers, but I would love to see Soo Line, Wisconsin Central, Milwaukee Road, Canadian National, Chicago & Northwestern, etc., etc. be the road for the initial release.

Now how come Mark from Menard's gets it right and its taken Lionel or MTH so long?

Offer up an 8 pack of grouped cars in the same road name to represent a fleet industry of cars!

Sell them in  a bulk pack and make the price reasonable.... THERE IS NO WAY I HAVE THE TIME AND MONEY TO COLLECT A FLEET OF FREIGHT CARS AT 70 BUCKS A POP!

For a newcomer in the O gauge train business, Menards certainly offers an enviable business model to the other manufacturers! I suspect that over time we may see a change in affordability and availability! Then again, ego being what it is, maybe not! But we can hope! Hey Mark, is it too soon to start pushing for a Menards section in the Orange Hall at York this Spring?

Aldovar,

I can't predict with any certainty whether or not these will be in the store later this year. However, if they were, it probably wouldn't be until October. I'm sorry about the lack of train cars. Other Guests must have had the same bag sale idea!

Yep, the coal insert is removable. I hope that helps!
