Yes, this. I'd definitely go for some of these if they were available in transition-era vintage.
I run steam engines also but I can always say that they were restored to operating condition. When I run my modern diesels the cars are from my private collection of collector autos ( I wish ).
I can also say hey! It's my layout and I'll run what I want.

Dare I say it, how about even older than that? You can never go wrong with older cars being in a specific place, but you can't have cars that were made after the time frame, only during or before. And even though there are a lot of people interested in diesel era stuff or the latest things for Rolling Stock, there will always be a huge number of people in the hobby, especially into 3 rail, who are interested in the steam era.
And whatever era you do, please just make them the normal Vehicles. There are way too many high-end and rare car models out there as it is. I think most modellers would appreciate just your standard basic cars, from whatever era is being modeled. There are way too many sports cars out there for models as it is.
Absolutely! Start in the Teens, please.
These are neat, now if Menards can make them to run on Streets that'd be GREAT! WBB vehicles are ok but they don't have headlights, and they're already expensive. Obviously, they'd need to obtain power from the streets!
What I think would be really cool is to have 1940's(early 40's) vehicles(assortment, cars, delivery truck, vans) and throw in a throwback car or truck from the 1930's. It would be pretty cool to see some of the great 40's cars with a 30's Model T or even a Dusenberg. Maybe even throw in a broken down teen's or twenty's car
I hope future releases will include the Menards Mack turret cab flat bed straight job.

I think Mike has it! Great idea!! I am thinking about doing the same thing...I like them all! My grandson also loves Mustangs and I had a couple of them when I was in high school. And, yes, I certainly do wish I still had the one with the 289 in it.
Menards is the King of Accessories! Another winner.

I was at our local Menards in Sioux City today. The selection really is not much. We are in a metro area of 170,000 with only one hobby shop (mostly HO). I know we are not Minneapolis but looking at the selection not even close to the catalog.

Hi Dick, I don't even live in a state that has a Menards and I am able to find everything they release on line. You might want to give that a try as Mark has stated that all stores might not carry what your looking right when your there! Just a thought!
Why do they all have to be fords!

Totally agree. Reliving my first experience in a '66 blue Mustang with 289, 4 speed, drum brakes all around and no power steering

Yes I had a Mustang also after I started working full time.

All Menard's have more or less the same size of selection. Remember that trains are a very, very, very small part of their overall business. It's a miracle they even devote any shelf space to this at all.
Our local Menards train selection is quite small compared to the catalog. It is also very seasonal with no trains in the summer. I buy most of my stuff from the catalog and have it delivered to the store. Usually takes 5 to 7 days, but its free.
Great product ! Hope to see some Chevy - 55 , 56, 57, 58. Also 62, 63, 64, Impala SS 409s !

I had '66's as well, both of them were '66! My 289 was a 4 speed and kind of a gold/tan color (forget what they called it?). I am thinking no power steering, but really can't remember for sure. This was in 1968/1969, these days I have trouble remembering what I did yesterday.

What year did you have? The '64-1/2's to '67's are my favorite from back then, but they were still great for a few more years. A couple of years ago on the car auction shows the Boss 429's were going for $250k-$300k or so as well as some of the Mopar 426 hemis!
Some of the Menards versions will just have to do me for now, until I win the Mega Millions or Powerball that is!
Mine was newer, '73. It was the basic version, whatever that was at the time. Cool looking transportation, but I was never into a "muscle" car.
Wiil the Plug and Play system from Menards work with Lemax carnival rides? They both use 4.5 volts. It sure would be convenient and get rid of all those wall warts. I would think that this might be a great selling point, Mark, since you also sell Lemax accessories.
