This is my first attempt at a permanent layout and after 11 years, its done.  I am going to have small groups come in to play trains.

It is 68' x 28', and I used National Parks as the theme.  There are 26 National Parks modeled in along with DisneyWorld, town, missile base, airport, and switch yards.  It is Lionel O Gauge with TMCC and ranges from 18" off the floor at the bottom of Grand Canyon and 8.5 feet at the 4 peaks of the Grand Tetons.  The scenery is scultamold and structolite over white beaded styrofoam.

Hope you enjoy the pics.

Wonderful layout.  National parks is a great idea for a theme.  The roller coaster, etc., also looks good.  Lots of imagination (and work).

And you have my condolences, too: I dread the day my layout is finished - not sure what I would do with myself if there was not a bit more scenery to do or another building to construct, etc.

Thanks so much guys for the thoughts.  I say I am finished because for me the hobby is sharing it with others.  I am having groups of Sunday Schools, school kids, scouts, assisted living residents, and nursing homes come see the layout.  That is what the last 11 years was all about for me.  The prize is sharing the finished product with others.  I have 4 CAB-1's and I pass them around and show people how to run the trains and sit back and watch.  That's model railroading for me.
